Tokyo Friends was released on June 8, 2005. Unlike many other Dorama, it was never aired on TV. Instead it was released as DVD; 3 DVDs to be exact. Volume one and two contained the first 4 episodes while volume three contained the last episode. Each episode is approximately 70 minutes long. A Tokyo Friends Premium Box was also released, which includes all 5 episodes, a bonus DVD and 12 postcards. Although this is a very typical Tokyo-story and was never aired on TV, it was quite successful, most probably because it was Otsuka Ai’s debut as an actress.

Artist: Gackt Title: DIABOLOS Release Date: 2005.09.21 Peak Position: #4 Product Code: CRCP-40120 Label: Nippon Crown |
Gackt’s 8th full solo album was released on the 21st of September. It didn’t top the chart but wandered for some time around #4. After the dissatisfaction that “Love Letter” brought about to many of his fans, because of its long, unvaried love-ballad theme, Gackt returns with a promising album, to restore any doubt growing about his talent at composing and singing. It’s clearly good old Gackt and without any recycling of the past.
This dorama is about a girl who was diagnosed with a disease called “Spinocerebellar Degeneration” when she was 15 years old, and was able to continue her life until her death at the age of 25 years old.
The plot is based on the true story of a Japanese girl named Kito Aya, who had the same disease. She kept writing in her diary to remember her experiences until she could no longer hold a pen. Aya simply wished to live until the end of her life, and the purpose of writing in the diary was to remind herself to not give up. She shed tears many times, at the same time encompassed by the rich love and support from her family, friends, and boyfriend. Her diary “1 Litre of Tears” was published after her death, because of its inspiring and courageous message of
“Just being alive is such a lovely and wonderful thing.”
So far, over 18,000,000 copies of her diary have been sold.

1. Kizuna 2. SOI SOOSU no Theme 3. Ho Ho Ho 4. Kizuna ~Acoustic Ver.~ |
ORANGE RANGE’s 12th single “Kizuna” came out on August 24, 2005. The single shot straight up to the number one position on the Oricon charts and sales have been pretty good so far. Many fans have compared this single to their previous hit ballad “Hana” which was released in October last year. On the cover a swing set is shown and the symbol of the band is drawn in the dirt. The picture is in black and white and gives it more of a nostalgic feel. The CD design and the back of the sleeve feature little doodles of stick men with parachutes being eaten by alligators and struck by lightning and a game of tic-tac-toe won by the O’s. No doubt about it, “Kizuna” is about friends and remembering the good times, so grab your warm and fuzzy childhood memories and let’s go!

Masaharu Fukuyama |
Fukuyama san’s 20th single Tokyo was released at 17 August 2005. I think Fukuyama san is one of the great male singers in Japan, mainly because he has a soft and gorgeous vocal (just like Kuwata Keisuke). He is definately not such of singer who can sing rock or rap, that’s why most of his songs are soft and slow. You will feel great and comfortable when you listen to his songs. I remember the first song i heard from Fukuyama san was Sakuraban which released on 26th April 2000. I saw him from tv music station, he played with the guitar when he sang the song. After that he took part in some japanese drama, too bad i only remember one of them named Bijo ka Yajuu or some of them call this drama as Beauty and The Beast.
The first song Tokyo is the ending theme of the current japanese drama Slow Dance. The time i get in touch with this song was because of this drama, I was really impressed when i heard the ending theme. It just gave me a really strong feeling when i listen to this song. The second song Watashiwa Kaze ni Naru, a bit similar to the first one but added some smooth jazz feel. Both of the songs are basically sounds very smooth, so i think most of you guys will love this single.
