Ok, I’ve made up my mind. The 2003 shuffle units are my favorite shuffles by faaar. Each and every song + group are awesome, but still with their added specialness. Unlike other years, starting from this year, all 3 shuffles were combined onto one CD single, rather than 3 separate singles to buy. Perhaps this switch was because of a decline of sales and fanbase.
The groups in 2003 were 7AIR, SALT5, and 11WATER. The theme for all of them was the elements, air, salt, and water. Both 7AIR and SALT5 took a more rap/r&b feel, while 11WATER turned the other way and gave us a nice, poppy, upbeat, H!P-like happy song.

2002 is another one of my favorite Hello! Project Summer Shuffles years. Alright, I do have a lot of favorites. I remember how much I was obsessed with these songs in that summer of ‘02…
The 3 units this year were Happy 7, Sexy 8, and Odoru 11. The groups/songs were themed around shiawase, happiness; each song had to do with this shiawase component. The songs varied quite a bit. While Happy 7’s song was cutesy, upbeat, and cheerful, Sexy 8’s song was, well, sexy. Odoru 11’s song really doesn’t fit into any category other than the “odd-different-traditional-japanese-weird” category.

2001 was the second year of the Hello! Project Summer Shuffles. This year was really a great year in the H!P world…new members, great songs, etc. The shuffles that year really show all that success.
The 3 groups that year were all “matsuri” themed, a matsuri being a Japanese festival filled with partying and having fun. The 3 groups were 3 Nin Matsuri, 7 Nin Matsuri, and 10 Nin Matsuri. Each of those translate to ‘[insert number here] person matsuri.’ The songs each differ extremely from each other, making them special in their own special way.

The summer shuffles have been an H!P tradition since 2000. Every summer, there are 3 units consisting of different Hello! Project members. All of the members of the H!P would be in it. It’s a chance for members from different groups to be together. In 2000, 2001, and 2002, all 3 groups released different singles. In 2003, they put the singles for that years shuffles all on the same CD. 2004 was a little different- the whole H!P was in one huge mega unit, the H!P All Stars. They released one single, all together. In 2005, the H!P was too big so only select members got in the shuffles. Their singles, like in 2003, were released on one CD.
I will be making an article for each of the 6 (and counting) Hello! Project Summer Shuffles rounds. First, of course, comes the 2000 shuffles: Akagumi 4, Kiiro 5, and Aoiro 7. The theme is colors- Aka means red, kiiro is yellow, and ao is blue.

Berryz Koubou (or sometimes BerryZ Koubou or Berryz Kobo) is the current Hello! Project kids group. It now consists of 7 members: Saki Shimizu (leader, 14), Momoko Tsugunaga (14), Chinami Tokunaga (14), Maasa Sudou (14), Miyabi Natsuyaki (14), Yurina Kumai (13), and Risako Sugaya (12). The former member is Maiha Ishimura (13), who “graduated”, left, in October 2005 to focus on her schoolwork.
Berryz Koubou (which translates to Berryz Workshop) was announced as the newest Hello! Project kids unit in early 2004. They were originally going to constantly rotate member of the Hello! Project kids into this unit, but this didn’t happen and the remaining Hello! Project kids formed their own group, °C-ute (although, °C-ute hasn’t released any singles).
Berryz Koubou is said to be Hello! Projects newest Morning Musume and will grow up very strong, vocally. So far, Berryz has released 9 singles, 2 albums, and a mini-album is coming in early December. This article will mainly focus on their singles, although a complete discography will be included. Sometime later, I’ll post articles on their albums!
