YUI is a Japanese pop artist who writes and plays the guitar to her own songs. She debuted in December of 2004 with the single “It’s happy line”, although it wasnt until her 4th single “LIFE“,which was used for the ending theme for the popular anime Bleach, that she became a household name. Although she is still fairly new to the J-Pop scene, her popularity seems to be rising and rising with every single she releases and it will only be a matter of time before she can reach the #1 spot on the Oricon charts.

In 2000, much to fans’ surprise, L’Arc~en~Ciel announced that they were going to be on a brief hiatus. Future plans for the band were unsure, but the members knew what they wanted to do individually. hyde was the last of the members to release solo material, and his can be considered as the most experimental of the group. In October of 2001 he released his debut single as HYDE titled “evergreen”. No doubt many fans of the band were surprised at the direction HYDE had chosen for his solo project. His singing style was gentler and his whole presentation became more relaxed and calm, and he even took to wearing simple loose clothing and suits. Let’s see how the (then) new HYDE fairs.

Singer/songwriter YUI is back with her 3rd single “LIFE”, released on November 9, 2005. Unlike her 1st and 2nd singles, “feel my soul” and “Tomorrow’s way” (respectively), “LIFE” is an upbeat song with a slight country feel. In addition, this song was chosen as the ending theme song of the popular Japanese anime “Bleach”. YUI, who debuted in February, is now honing her acting skills for a new movie set to come out next year called “Taiyou no Uta” (English title: “A Song to the Sun”). For now, let’s look at “LIFE”!

After only reuniting with L’Arc~en~Ciel for two years, HYDE has returned to his solo project; which is slowly becoming less of a “project” and more of a career. It seems he has abandoned the idea of being an “interesting” artist with his contrasting angel (ROENTGEN) and devil (666) albums, and prefers to be a full fledged rock soloist. Don’t worry Laruku fans, although tetsu has confirmed hyde working on his solo project for the rest of this year, expect a new single by the band early to mid 2006.

HYDE returns to us with “COUNTDOWN” a hard rock number being used as the Japanese theme song to the movie “STEALTH” (starring Jamie Foxx) and lyrics crying out for peace. He has been recently going down a very open political road since the album “AWAKE” (L’Arc~en~Ciel) and shows no signs of shutting up. 13.12.11.10.9.8.7.6.5.4.3.2.1, Let’s review!

Yuna Ito is a relatively new face in the Japanese entertainment scene. She is actually a Hawaiian born artist. Up till the present day, she has only appeared in a couple of variety shows which were broadcasted on television and has been featured on a few magazines. However she has still managed to impress the Japanese audience in many aspects.

Up till her debut Yuna Ito was shrouded in mystery. This has gained Yuna a great deal of attention and fans. All that was known was that Yuna Ito was starring in the highly anticipated movie “NANA” as the lead vocalist of Trapnest, Reira.
