Okinawa-born Aragaki Yui started off her career by winning a contest with and becoming a model of Nicola magazine. Nicknamed Gakki, she became increasingly popular while dabbling in gravure, television, and acting. In 2005, she graduated from the magazine and focused more on her acting, even appearing in popular, high-profile dramas like Dragon Zakura and My Boss My Hero.
