This is a huge improvement for Ai I believe. I'm not exaclty sure the final rankings for her previous albums, but "LOVE JAM" made top 30, not close as "LOVE COOK" which made top 10.
#10 LOVE COOK 大塚 愛 831,633
http://www.oricon.co.jp/music/special/061221_03.html
Compairson:
#20. Love Punch 大塚 愛 519,300 (Source: Wikipedia 2004 Top Albums)
#30. Love Jam 大塚 愛 414,513 (Source: Wikipedia 2005 Top Albums)
Considering that the top 10 best sold albums were mostly BEST albums, Ai's 3rd album did really really well to rank that high. Before her is of course Koda Kumi's 2nd Best which ranked 2nd (1,768,628), and Ken Hirai's Best which ranked 1st with a total of 2,070,766. |

wow, that's great! but, hey, LOVE COOK is her best album imo.
nice that ULTRA BLUE by Hikaru Utada and First Message by ayaka did well too. (yay! Hikki beat Ayu with 5000 copies! )
just checking the top albums that weren't best of's. there's Hikki and Ayu, but then there's some group called Def Tech that i've never heard of.... and apparently their first album went up to 4th place too last year....
EDIT:
Taiyou no Uta by Kaoru Amane (Erika Sawajiri) came on 10th place on the single list. didn't find any other i like in the single list... |

Wow, that's a big difference. LOVE Cook is by far her best album yet. Koda Kumi seems to have lots of selling records these days. |

| o_o This is a great achievement for Ai! I'm really happy about this and she passed a lot of people. I am truly amazed that she beat KAT-TUN since they were in such huge demand this year. I hope her ranks only get higher! |

| Um, I personaly did not think LOVE COOK was her best, it was probally her worst for me. Love Jam was my favorite. I think the 3 editions of this album is what helped it rank so good. |

I'm surprised that Kumi's Best Second Session did so well, especially since she released right after the 12 singles.

check the fourth tab. i don't really get what the numbers stand for though. The number is in the 100th thousands place. So basically, if you add 5 zeros behind the given number, you'll get the sale numbers for that year.

LOVE COOK was very different from her previous albums. It contain more "mature" sounding tunes like Cherish and Hane ari Tamago. I think that's why a lot of her fans either loved the album, or disliked it. And you're probably right, the 3 editions probably contributed to the sale numbers. |

Same here, I like all of the albums, no matter what differences they have. I know LOVE COOK is much matured than the previous 2 but I still love both of them. LOVE COOK brings some maturity and that's probably why it selled more. Don't get me wrong, I like happy and cheerful too (Because I am ). |
