真実の詩 - Poem of Truth - by Do As Infinity
Romaji:
Akaku nijimu taiyou wa subete wo
Terashitekita ima mo mukashi mo
Kono yuuyami ni egaiteru souzou wa
Hatashite kono te ni oenai mono na no ka?
motto ima ijouni hadaka ni natte
ikite yuku sube oshiete yo
Hon no sukoshi dake watashi wo yogoshite
Sou yatte hitori kizutsuitari
Mawari wo nakushita to shitemo
Shinjitsu no uta wa kono mune ni nagare
Arasoi wa mada tsudukun darou
Dono michi ima ga taisetsu na no sa
Gamushara ni natte miotoshite kita mono
Tatoeba dareka no yasashii hohoemi mo
Eien wo shireba donna kurayami mo
Itami mo itsuka kiete
Sou yatte ima wa watashi wo yogoshite
Zutto mukashi mita tenkuu no shiro ni
Itsuka wa tadoritsukeru
Shinjitsu no uta wo michishirube ni shite
Eien wo shireba donna kurayami mo
Itami mo itsuka kiete
Shinjitsu no uta wa kono mune ni nagare
Motto ima ijou ni watashi wo yogoshite
Hon no sukoshi dake watashi wo yogoshite
Shinjitsu no uta wo michishirube ni shite
Translation:
The red crimson blur, is the sun's entirety
It shone in the past as well as now
As expected, was the dream that we drew
in the twilight too much for this hand to bear?
Becoming naked, show me a little more,
the way it is to live
Taint me just a little
Hurting others like that, alone
Even if I lose everything around me
This poem of truth will guide my heart
The quarrel continues
Which road is the more important one?
Becoming reckless, I overlooked things
For example, somebody's gentle smile
If we knew eternity, regardless of how dark it is
This wound will someday disappear
So taint me a little bit, just like that
I always looked back in the past.
Someday we'll reach that castle in the sky
This poem of truth will be my signpost
If we knew eternity, regardless of how dark it is
This wound will someday disappear
This poem of truth will guide my heart
Taint me just a little bit more
Taint me just a tiny bit more
Poem of truth, become my signpost |

oh, 歌 can mean 'poem' too?
but i still think that it's referring to 'song' since it's kind of the title track on the album TRUE SONG.
thanks for the translation, though! great work!
i need to listen to DAI more... |

mm I always thought that 'uta' referred to 'song' before, but after reading the Japanese song title, I realised it used this kanji '詩' instead. This one means 'poem' so I figured it must be 'poem of truth' rather than 'song of truth'. There's an entertaining arguement between myself and some other anonymous user known as redracer on one of Rinoa's blogs about Hitomi Shimatami. He believed that 'uta' was song despite the fact that her song, "Ai no Uta" also used this kanji '詩' |

wow, those lyrics are really powerful and well-written.
the only song that's really caught my ear by do as infinity is fukai mori, but maybe i'll check out some more of their songs now. |

Well, the vast majority of kanji have multiple readings, possibly up to 4 or 5 (maybe even more). I think in this case, there is the kun-yomi and the on-yomi (one is the Chinese reading while the other is the Japanese reading....cant remember which though) so I think that's probably why in this case, there is 'shi' as well as 'uta'. As to why they chose to have it read as 'uta', you'll have to research that yourself |

Rodri wrote: but why do you pronounce "詩" as "uta" and not as "shi"??? ..japanese is so weird.. i know:
when "詩" is pronounced "uta" (うた), it means "song" or sometimes or more rarely: "classical Japanese poetry"
when "詩" is pronounced "shi" (し), it means "poem" or in some cases: "verse of poetry"
somewhat relevant sidenote:
in chinese, this character almost exclusively means "poem" except in hundreds of years ago, poems were actually put to music, so that might explain why when the japanese adopted this kanji from chinese, they also used it to mean "song" in some contexts. |

| I might be a little finicky here but even if it is pronounced as 'uta' it will still mean poem. It sometimes does mean 'song' as you said, but that will depend according to its user. The meaning of the kanji doesn't change all the time according to its pronunciation. |
