I like the latter of the PV ... though I'm not a fan of Ayu's main outfit in the PV XD
Rule is a pretty good song. Though I have to say I like Sparkle more.
Looks like Ayumi will be releasing her tenth alb2um on March 25th. I am so looking forward to this album as I've liked all three singles she has since released after Guilty.
The album is titled Next Level
I think there's four versions to this album
This is based on info from CDJ and YA. CDJ lists all four versions for per-order. I've only seen the 2CD+DVD version on YA.
2CD+DVD Quote: Tenth album release from Ayumi Hamasaki includes 13 tunes total (subject to change). Limited edition includes bonus CD featuring 14 tunes from her "Premium Countdown Live 2008 - 2009 A" performance (subject to change). Also includes bonus DVD with six music videos and making-of the footage (subject to change).(from CDJ)
Disc 2 LIVE CD from "PREMIUM CODiUNTDOWN LIVE 2008-2009 A "
・GREEN
・Will
・End of the World
・Heartplace
・POWDER SNOW
・HOPE or PAIN
・Over
・SCAR
・SIGNAL
・Hana
・too late
・everywhere nowhere
・Days
・For My Dear... 全14曲収録予定
(Disc 2 list from YA) CD+DVD - same thing as first one, just no Disc 2 w/ the PREMIUM CODiUNTDOWN LIVE 2008-2009 A (First press includes special packaging)
CD Only - same info for Disc 1, where it features 13 songs ... ect. (First press includes special packaging)
USB Memory Stick Quote: Memorial tenth album release from Ayumi Hamasaki in USB memory stick! This USB stick contains her 13 new songs, six music videos, and lyrics data of the album on non-erasable area (details subject to change) and the USB Memory stick comes in a shape of Ayu's logo. Also includes a chain that enables you to wear the stick as a pendant. Rest of the capacity of the memory enables to use as a normal USB memory (1.3GB approx.). I like the USB memory idea. Not sure if it's ever been used this way before. But I think it's a neat idea. That's actually how I listen to music at work XD And it's something special to do for her tenth album.
Oh and there's also a documentary book being released on April 2nd on her 2008 Asia tour/10th anniversary. ... Methinks AVEX wants to compete with Utada and the two books that she's coming out with in March called "Sen" and "Ten" ... maybe.
EDIT ... so pictures of this USB key are out there. You can seem some here:
http://badabings.blogspot.com/2009/02/ayumi-hamasaki-next-level-album-in-usb.html
And I guess she's not the first artist to do this as Matchbox 20 and Jennifer Lopez has released albums in the USB key (instead of a cd) before. But as far as I know, she's the first Japanese artist to be doing this.
Oh and YA does have the CD+DVD and the CD Only versions but no USB key version =( HMV JP carries the same as YA. Amazon JP is the only other place that has the USB (that I've seen so far)
I hope CDJ restocks XD |

Wow I'm really shocked no one has posted in here.
Anyways, I just wanted to drop by and say that the USB version for Next Level is up for pre-order again at CDJ (not sure about everywhere else, in the process of looking right now) due to a huge demand. I'm glad I checked back because I had e-mailed them before and they said they would not be able to re-stock. But I guess AVEX must have gotten bombarded with mail from many many many fans and music retailers O.o
Makes me wonder if this will break some kind of a record in terms of sales. I have seen it being posted everything (well the USB key) on many tech blogs so I'm not surprised about the fuss. |

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm why is this thread still dead-ish??
Anyways, the covers for all versions of Next Level are out and so are the track lists
http://www.avexnet.or.jp/ayu/jp/news/090212.html
Hmm, looks like Ayumi going back to the more retro look ... with both her Rule/Sparkle single and now the covers for the Next Level album ... seems like she's in a very colorful phase XD
The songs sound interesting. I never noticed this till now, but Ayumi sure has a lot of English titled songs ... kind of like YUI! Not that that's a bad thing ...
I'm interested in what Disco-munication will sound like. What a funky title. |

^haha yea that's one of the covers. That particular one is the CD only cover.
I still think the Miss Understood album is one of her most ugliest covers to date.
I didn't dislike the Rainbow cover, it was one of those iconic covers, kind of like that cover (I think it was for Nirvana ... or I could be wrong) with the baby underwater. You just recognize it the instant you see it ... |

I actually like the covers. The USB one really shows how conceptual they are with the TVs and all, but her pose looks so awkward in it. I think if her dress was different, it'd be better, but I mean, she actually decided to have an idea in this one, which is nice.
I don't like the (miss)understood one where she's smiling and it looks really scary. Can't remember which one that is.
Anyway, I have high hopes for NEXT LEVEL. It seems like GUILTY was one of her most emotional albums, the one that everyone tends to hate, and the one following it is more light-hearted and fun and everyone likes it. And the singles have all been really strong... |

^ I think the (miss)understood one was the CD+DVD version. and I just remembered it LOL . personally I just think a lot could've been done to make the NEXT LEVEL cover less gross. I mean, her hair, her dress (fake nails on PVC gloves, I mean come on ) the colors I don't mind but it's really just Ayu that makes it look awkward (ironically enough ). but oh well, it's her album and her rules |

Don't know what to think about the song. Her summer songs were very good, but "Sunrise ~Love is all~" sounds a little bit boring. Maybe I have to listen to it more. But if I'll don't like it, there is still "Sunset ~Love is all~" (btw, is this a ballad or a sommer sung like Sunrise?)
But this Special Mega-Mash-Up seems to be interesting too. I love every song from it except "Greatful Days" ... |

Ha, I agree. Greatful Days is easily my least favorite of the summer songs.
Sunrise is cute, but I still don't have a set opinion on it! I love the verses and the chorus, but somehow I don't think they quite go together, and I'm not quite sure why I think that. Oh well. I'm still happy we get new material from Ayu. I did love NEXT LEVEL though. It was as I expected, fun and dancey. It's a great album for running. |

The single sounds okay, seems like it didn't make up it's mind to be a rocking or techno song, perhaps doing something different with Nakata would help her, but her songs are still better than most, except of course Ai's or hitomi's! Here's a link for Sunrise/Love is all song.

The covers for her new single are out:
Ok, I think the covers are bad ... She looks like a bad wannabe-Shakira |
