Two executives of the leading mobile ringtone corporation (also run by popular mobile service provider KDDI), CHAKA UTA FULL, were arrested earlier this week with illegal distribution of Otsuka Ai's songs and charged with theft/fraud and piracy.
According to the story told by police, these two people posed the company as having attained legal rights to copyrighted songs from Avex and Ai and gave away her music for unfair amounts and for unspecified downloads to gain profit for themselves.
From what news that has been released thus far, it's not only the two executives who are being charged for this crime, but the corporation as a whole.
The suspects in question are still under investigation. Officials believe there is more than just this incident that has occurred.

| I think that it's not just her...otherwise, that's just plain stupid to make money off 1 artist while you have access to almost every single one. |

| It is pretty stupid, and from what's been released to the public it's only Ai's name that has been brought up. Other sites were reporting that it was mainly her music that stood out from those illegal sales and who was hit the hardest, but they didn't release the names of the others or give any hint as to if there were even other artists involved. |

| ^ I'm not exactly sure if it was; the songs that were included were individual songs and used mainly for ring tones. For the most part, the leak of LOVE LETTER was just caused by someone carelessly ripping the entire promo CD for the internet. |

| Illegal distribution? OUCH! What is really going on? Could we even really have more information about something called "bootlegs" - which are really rip-offs? |
