Yay, never assume anything ! Though if Peter ever joined this forum, we probably would've assumed she was a girl anyway |

Just found this on the web somewhere ... quite smart and funny ...
A Panda Bear walked into a resturant. He sat down at a table and ordered some food. When he was finished eating, he took out a gun and shot his waiter. He then left the resturant. After the police caught up with him, they asked him why he had killed the waiter. He replied, "Look me up in the dictionary." What did the dictionary say? |

^ i was totally stumped trying to figure out the answer to that one that i had to look it up. indeed a nice riddle, lol.
ok, i got another one. each letter in this equation stands for a number. at first i thought there was only one solution, but two of my classmates found two other solutions. anyways, here it is:

^ Answer was Eats bamboo shoots, leaves
Let's see first, think first M has to be 1, pretty hard to get anything else there
O is probably 0
S probably 9
E + O(0) = N
E = N
N + R = E
R = 0
D + E = Y
Can't be bothered thinking anymore it's too early in the morning, luckily there's a simple solution for this ...
9000
+1000
10000
S=9, M=1, ENDORNY are all 0, sure there are other solutions, but this probably the simplest |

^ ahahaha! that never occurred to me! well, ok, let me rephrase... each letter stands for a different number. no two letters stand for the same number.
and yeah, i heard the answer "eat shoots and leaves". |

OK, M has to be 1

(0 or 1) + S + 1 = 0 + 10 (since we must carry 1 for M)
O can't be 1, because M is 1
O = 0

S=8 or 9
E can't be N so
E+1=N
OR
E+1=N+10
E=N+9
As N!=0 this can't be true, this also implies S=9

+10RE
10NEY
E+1=N
(1 or 0) + N + R = E + 10
(1 or 0) + N + R = N -1 + 10
(1 or 0) + R = 9
R=8
9END
+108E
10NEY
D+E=Y+10
E+1=N
Remaining Numbers, 234567
My head hurts, only 4 left, I'll just try remaining combinations
7(D)+6(E)=3(Y)+10
6(E)+1=7(N)
N is the same as D so this is wrong
7(D)+5(E)=2(Y)+10
5(E)+1=6(N)
All different so this works
Answer:
9567
+1085
10652
Please tell me that was correct ... otherwise my brain goes |

I've seen that problem before and love that particular math brain teaser because of the meaning behind it and how the question itself flows so well.
Yes your right (though I wonder what the other two solutions mangomalte's friends came up with). |

Yeah, actually it would be interesting to see what the other solutions were. While I kind of raced through working that out without too much care, my logic kind of eliminated any other solutions. Happy to be proved wrong though. |

hmm..... ok, i've been trying to get any other solutions out of it, but failed. and when i googled it it said that that was the only solution. but i'm positive that i've challanged my class mate with it.. and i'm positive that i've gotten two extra answers to a challange i've given them. though it seems they're not the same. apparently. sorry to get your hopes up...
ok, another funny one.
you have a pizza with the thickness a and the radius z. what's the formula for the volume? |

^ that's ok, its like an extra riddle in the riddle
OK, this one is a bit simpler, though I must say it's been a while since I used these formulas.
Pi * z^2 * a
Pi*z*z*a
Pizza
I don't why they don't teach the formula that way in school I'd never forget it then
OK, enough of the maths questions, this is an old one I heard long ago
There are two dead bodies lying on the floor. They are surrounded by water and broken glass. How did they die? |

Now...I am as large and as wide as a castle, sometimes even bigger and even longer. Even though I am lighter than air, nothing can move me. What am I? |
