I've had my cell phone for about a year and a half now...I guess that's a long time. But my contract is being renewed in five months. Boogie

^ And I thought I was relatively conservative with technology Laughing

Also, just wanted to say that I now have another job! Or rather, another income source Shifty I now do private tuition for math so I get $35/hour for that. On an even better note, one of my brother's friends might also ask for me to tutor them so I'll finally have more money muahahahah

.....

What, it's a lot of money for a student....ok fine, for me Laughing

^^ $35/hr, need any more help? Nod Sigh, I could use something on the side that pays that, have been tutoring English for over a year now twice a week, it's volunteer, get nothing. That's a good rate, at least for here, very few make that where I live, cost a lot though to live there? Confused

I wish I could $35...Money is nice for CDs and whatnot. But I guess I can put off things like that. It'd be fun to tutor people though, I think. Is it?

Tutoring is interesting, though a bit frustrating at times, none speak English, plus I'm also trying to teach them how to use a computer, never a dull moment. Surprised

@hitomi #1: I still live with my family so the cost of living doesn't really factor in for me Laughing but yeah, I think Sydney is a reasonably expensive place to live in. It's not as much as New York or London but it's still pretty high, especially for a student. I'll probably leave home once I find a stable job and graduate from uni...
As for tutoring, you're really generous to do it as volunteer work! My rate is quite cheap compared to professional tutors ($100 for 1.5 hours!?!) Why don't you find out what the average rate is and then lower it a substantial amount? At least you'll get something more out of it other than just personal gain Tongue

@octocoffee: Hehe tutoring lil kids is fun, they do (and say) all sorts of interesting things Giggle

People see NY as where I live and presume it's expensive, but where I live is nowhere near NYC, looking at a map it's just below Lake Ontario, relatively cheap to live unlike most citiies in the North East. Surprised Would be nice to make some extra $$$$, but it's strictly volunteer, that's okay though, as you've noticed(or will), I'm a tad strange, if there was money involved I'd probably lose interest and not do it! Evil

Just wanted to say Happy Halloween to everyone on Channel-Ai! I'm aware that some countries don't celebrate this. Hope you get some form of sweets today regardless!

@ hitomi #1 - I'm under the impress you tutor adults is that right? I use to tutor kids last year for volunteering reasons. I wanted to continue this year but I've got too much going on this year with school and whatnot. I think tutoring pre-teens and teenagers is the hardest. I found it really difficult to get them to stay focuses. Though it was fun to have conversations with them. I preferred teaching ESL to the seniors when I was allowed too. They were more attentive, not to mention some of them were very kind.

Yes, adults, biggest problem it gets a bit harder to teach someone who's been speaking and living in one kind of culture for 35 years to change it, sure I or most of us would have a hard time with that, Confused would think teens would be easier because of that, oh well, perhaps I could emigrate to Hokkaido and see if it's hard for me too! Ooh, there's my tutor! Surprised

I was once offered a tutoring job at $170 an hour, that was for uni students in a class type situation though so it obviously had a much inflated price to it ... I didn't take it mainly because I was working during the time they wanted me to tutor, and more importantly, I was probably too shy at that time to handle it.
Back on the topic of mobile phones, I've "technically" never owned or paid for a mobile phone in my life. When I first started working, my boss said I needed a mobile phone, but because it looked like I'd never buy one for myself they bought one for me and have been paying for it ever since Tongue Now that I'm so used to owning one though I think I would buy one if I didn't get one from work anymore Laughing

^^ All you have to do is watch dramas now, in the older days, well not too old, Shocked but they actually used to talk face to face, now it's too much of this. Sad
