I'm interested in the answers on this question.
Do your family members like Ai-chan or asian music in general? If they like her, why? I think I don't have to explain more details .
Have fun here . |

my brother basically... he sticks around me most of the time, so any music that i play tend to stick to him too..
and since now i've been playing Ai-tunes almost perpetually, he kinda like them songs too...
hmm so far my the rest of my family never seem to have any complains at all to her music.. probably think i'm way too weird, or her singing's good but since they can't understand, they wont comment.. |

My family and I don't really talk or interact much, so the only times they would have heard Ai's music is if I'm playing it over my stereo (when I'm actually home, which is rare because I live at my college campus) but I've never heard them complain
My sister doesn't like J-music in general because she always wonders how I can enjoy it without knowing what the artists are saying
My parents have no opinion about it, sometimes my dad will come into my room and make fun of whatever J-pop song I have on by trying to sing along in a really annoying voice |

My brother is probably the only one in my immediate family who would listen to her music. He knows I lover her music to death but I'm pretty sure he doesn't like her music. He digs through my muisc on the PC sometimes and he's gotten to listening to Ayaka.
One of my cousins might be listening to her music but since I don't talk with him much I'm not certain. |

My sister doesn't like. Why ? Not her taste at all.
My mother likes a few songs, especially Chu-Lip, she really like this one (by the way, she asked me to show her her las Chu-Lip live from Yokohama Arena live).
My father is curious, but I don't know if he likes or not..
My other sister, I don't know.
... and my cat loves ^^ |

I'm sure my mother doesn't like Ai-chin, or whatever Japanese music I play My brother is tolerant toward it, though he likes it better when I play misono or Stereopony. My father's totally fine with it too, and he likes Stereopony But, I'm sure they don't really like Ai-chin all that much. |

I can't really answere the poll because my parents have never heard Ai-chin before x3 But I am 99,9% sure that my would hate her because of her cutesy voice. I could be wrong though.
The only time my parents have properly listened to Japanese music was years ago, in the period when I was very into BoA and Ayu. They didn't really like for it, but that doesn't really matter. They don't care what I listen too (and they shouldn't, seeing as I don't live at home anymore). I might try to play some Shiina Ringo, Chihiro Onitsuka and Kokia for them during Christmas. Not to convert them, or anything. Just to improve their opinion on Japanese music |

My father doesn't like her xD My brother likes some songs from her...and my little brother loves SMILY and Ramen 3pun cooking, he always sings to them
My mother says that her songs are really nice, specially when she plays the piano, and she thinks she is extremely cute and always dresses nice
My cousin seemed to like some crazy songs from her like Happy Days and Ponpon...we always used to sing ponpon together |

I voted that they like 愛ちゃん a lot. But this is not 100% accurate. I may be the most senior member of this forum because I think wife and child besides Parents and siblings when it comes to family. My wife is Japanese who did not know of Aichan before moving from Japan. She worked in the industry of TV production and has known and met many famous performers from both Japan and America.
I used to be a big fan of Utada Hikaru (I still like her work, but 愛ちゃん has practically erased her from my life). Through no fault of her own Utada Hikaru became an object of scorn by my wife. I think it has more to do with associating her music with a bad time of her life than anything else, but she really does not want to hear her any more. BTW: Utada is coming to Seattle for a concert next month and I will go to watch by myself, obviously. 愛ちゃんもここに来てくだいさい!
She has never said a bad thing about Ai-chan and I know that she has a lot of respect for her art. She has said as much.. She has also said that Aichan is a performer who should be watched live to get the full effect (I completely agree). I can't say that she is nearly as big as fan as me, but I know she likes her (otherwise, she'd be mad at my computer background wallpapers..LOL)
The kid.. Aya.. She was a huge fan of 愛ちゃん a year or so ago... Then came school peer pressure. J-Pop is not big here, so she is drifting away for now.. liking Green Day and the like...
In my family, at least, 愛ちゃん is 愛ちゃん! This means that we each see her as an artist. We see her work as a whole. Sakuranbo and Chu-Lip are necessary to understand Renai Shashin and Poket. We understand that her work is a package that is best understood wrapped together. This is why I said we like 愛ちゃん a lot. We do, but to different degrees. |

Thanks, quite enjoyable, ever notice looking at an avatar brings you to a wrong conclusion? Always thought you were a female, perhaps around 20, sorry, talk about being so off, aren't too many of us above 30, think I've only seen maybe 2 others, never check though, thanks agsin for your comments, interesting. |

My Dad knows about Ai Otsuka, but he didn't listen to any of her songs yet.
He only knows her name, and what she looks like, hehe. |
