i would really like to know more about Ai, especially about her days before she came out to the light, before she signed with Avex.
if anyone has a pretty detailed biography, please post links or extracts. |

| Uhm... dunno many sites :S If you can read french there's Uzai Otsuka (linked in my site) but it doesn't speak much of her pre-avex days. I don't think there is one out yet. |

u remind me of something.. i wana know where is her sch.. who taught her piano.. when she has her bunnies.. why she wana become a singer.. last but not least i wana see her with a school uniform!! (the Ai now in sch uniform i mean) |

yeah, i'd like to know all that kind of stuff too, her school days, did she graduate, where did she live, what jobs did she have, how did she score a contract with Avex... |

| Better yet, maybe she'll write a autobiography about herself ! I hope that happens. But everyone's right Ai has been quiet about her past, the only peeks of her past was the 'Bokura no Ongaku' video. |

I think during the best new artist award ceremony her piano teacher came out. That's what I heard I havn't seen the video for it.
BTW Dustie I'll tell you how she got into avex it's written in Uzai Otsuka. She sent a sample file of her music along with a letter. Usually this is a very hard way to get into a company but she wrote her letter in red and that's what caught the eye of the person who looks at those letters. And KABOOM SHE WAS IN! |

I remember a long time ago I went to look up some info on her official site, and it listed her birthday as sometime in 1947 (I didn't know where else to look at the time)
There was a period of about a week or so when I was seriously convinced she was 40something  |

there might be a different way at official sites according for the dates of birth - they tend to use the initial letter of a certain emperor followed by the numbers of years following his coronation
for example from 1927 till 1989 births is used the S (emperor showa)
so namies birthdate is S52-9-20 (52 years after showa became an emperor)
mine is S62..ais is S57 etc
...now why did i started rambling about this?  |

I'm not good at writing so I'm not going to write a biography of her here. There's a lot of information you can find here in the forum if you would really like to know more about her, such as "What is HimawaRi?", "What is the sales of her singles and albums?" etc. You can also find a lot of useful information at Wiki.thePPN. btw, I have translated a few news article from her Taiwan official site, you can get to know a lot of insider stuff too, like she actually own a kindergarden teacher license.

The demo song she sent is Daisukidayo, it is also the first song she recorded at Avex, but she really treasure that song and decided to release it only when she think the time is right. Daisukidayo is composed when she is 19, and if you look at the Daisukidayo single cover, it says "Everything about Ai Otsuka begins here", you get the idea. More details is in the news article and I'll get to that when I "feel like" translating it. (nobody seems to appreciate my translation at all)  |

i like ur translation too... i heard she graduated from a senior high school in osaka.. i have 2 pictures of her during school time.. let me have it here..
