^ Don't worry, it is never too late to buy LIB 4th, as I bought this one just 3 days ago (but the exchange rate of Australia to Japan Dollars changed a lot, and become much more expensive to buy now than 2 years ago). Because I have no chance to play Blu-ray disc before I recently replaced a new computer, and I want the first Blu-ray disc I put into my computer is Ai-Chin's but not any other singer.
By comparing Ai-Chin's LIB 4th and Namie Amuro's Best Fiction Tour Blu-ray discs (actually, I don't like Namie, therefore I BT this, but not buy), I found that the "visual" quality of Namie's is much better than LIB 4th, I guess avex has invested a lot in High Definition equipments and production technology. Thus, I think LIB 6th's Blu-ray version will give us another visual surprise.
However, there is no Documentary Part in Blu-ray version, and that means I must buy both DVD and Blu-ray versions together. avex, you do very good strategy. |

Avex always has ways to attract our money away from consumers' wallets.
In 2009, avex organizes many tours of Ai chan as means to get our money.
It seems in the following year, 2010, avex will get our money through discography
Money magnet. |

Actually I do remember reading somewhere that some people thought the quality of LIB4 on bluray was worse than the DVD version .... good to know that's not the case anymore.
Oh the doco isn't on bluray version hmmm looks like I'm going to be getting both as well |

^ so far I haven't heard about that the quality of Blu-ray is worse than DVD,
do you mix up with the problem DVDs of LOVE LETTER Live House (Taiwan and Hong Kong versions) here
but the problem eventually fixed and all DVDs can be replaced, see here. |

^ I remember now I saw this from a review of LIB 4 bluray on cdjapan ... they didn't actually say the quality was worse than DVD ... but still not a great review ....
CDJapan Review wrote: The audio track is a solid uncompressed LPCM one and a Dolby TRUEHD 5.1 track which does not really add all that much to the overall sound performance.
I bought this in DVD first, before buying a Blu-Ray player. I thought the quality was supposedly far superior to the DVD version, so I bought this Blu-Ray version.
However, the imagery is shot on a crappy camera that is obviously either not a true HD camera or a very poor one.
The picture is really grainy, due to high ISO value used. The camera used is obviously no good with dark surroundings.
This disc only gets a 3 because of the grainyness of the picture and the HD audio not really adding anything to the mix.
If you doi not own a 40" + TV, go for the DVD release. |

This is quite strange the blu-ray one does not contain the 90 min footage
There are a lot of free space in a blu ray disc, so i don't think the live concert take the full space ! |

every listing i have seen for the Blu-ray version decribes it as "+ Documentary".

rather than relying on the cdjapan reviewer who i think is wrong on a number of points, you should make up your own mind about the image quality. see here for a series of screenshots. |

^ What I stated was based on the earlier news (2010.01.22) from Ai-Chin's official home page.
Quote:
同時発売!!
【Blu-ray Disc】AVXD-91607 ¥6,969
収録内容は、DVD(AVBD-91761~2)のDISC-1と共通です。
which means
Release at the same time!!
[Blur-ray Disc] AVXD-91607 ¥6,969
Contents recorded are equal to the Disc-1 of the DVD version.
Quote:
○DISC-2
(約90分収録予定)
約3ヶ月の間、カメラが密着した
大塚 愛 初のドキュメント映像+特典映像
which means
Disc-2
Approximately 90 min clips from hidden camera, Ai-Chin's documentary 3 months before the tour and special footage.
Nothing was stated from Ai-Chin's avex home page about the Disc-2 for Blu-ray
from HMV's information for Blu-ray disc,
Number of Discs: 1
I don't think a double layer Blu-ray disc can contain both 170 minutes tour songs as well as 90 min documentary and special footage, unless the documentary part and footage was in DVD-5 or even lower quality. The maximum space of a double layer Blu-ray is ~50GB. e.g. Namie Amuro's Best Fiction Tour Blu-ray is 142min already occupied 42GB, I wonder how can 8GB contain extra 28 min HD tour clips and 90 min special goodies?
Of course, I also hope that Blu-ray contain also all extras in Disc-2 in DVD version, then I can get everything, but with higher quality, however without changing the price.
...urr, though that both CDJapan and HMV have shown the title with "+ Documentary", it doesn't quite make sense the price of Blu-ray is the same as DVD. |
