I am absolutely in LOVE with Chage & Aska! They are one of Japan's legendary song artists, and still are presently singing! They sing from a variety of songs, from rock, to love songs. One of their most famous songs, "Say Yes". had a huge hit in Jaopan and went straight into number 1! They also sang a song for the famous Ghibli company, "On Your Mark". All their songs are fantastic, and I urge everyone to listen to their wonderful songs!!!
This thread wilkl be about Chage and Aska, and their songs! >.< |

| Say Yes is their best song that they ever made! It was a TV drama theme song! |

| I think Chage and Aska have done their reputations great justice since that breakthrough night in 1979. They have successfully recreated themselves and their music unflinchingly for the past 20 odd years and have easily their status as JPop legends (the first time I heard about JPop in my teens in the 90's, it was pretty much synonymous with Chage and Aska). Yet, it says a lot about how JPop has changed with the entries above in this thread. Their songs have touched a chord with our aunts and uncles, but change has been rampant in the past few years. From breezy melodies like Say Yes, JPop has experimented with Eurobeat, hit it hot and heavy with Hiphop R&B and is now settling for (for the time being) lyrics-focused beat pop. It remains to be seen whether the current teens (I'm already in my 20s, so I don't count - I love Leslie Cheung) will turn mojo retro to those heady 80s and 90s that was Chage and Aska. Either way, they'll always be synonymous with JPop for me. |
