Well I did, and I got charged a lot of taxes from Canada custom. YesAsia never have such a problem, I'm just wondering if you guys have similar problem when dealing with cdjapan. To be honest, stuff sold at cdjapan is much more expensive and there's no free shipping. YesAsia offers coupons and free shipping, and recently there's a mini japan promotion as well, providing you reach their purchase requirement etc.

Conclusion is cdjapan is dumb enough to make the parcel look "so" commercial (they paste their cdjapan logo and the price of the cd) that it makes its customer pays those unneccesary taxes.

Nope.. I never got such a problem.. I bought there like 5 times and I'm very satsified with their service. They give coupons too. I like CDJapan anyhow ^^

So have you tried YesAsia? I don't like cdjapan because I have to pay taxes for those items I purchased. Those taxes are not earned by their company but thrown into the weatlhy pocket of Canada government. They should make their parcel less commercial-like such as removing unnecessary price tag on the package. I think they are losing a lot of Canadian or US customer because of this reason.

I'm still going to stick with YesAsia, the US$5 dollar coupon for any purchase above US$50 is too attractive to turn down compare to cdjapan's point system, also you have to pay 500 yen for the stupid shipping fee.

How much coupon do you get from cdjapan? Anyway, I'm not going back to that company unless I'm forced to, 12 dollar of tax is just ridiculous, considering the item I bought is around 30 dollar.

I usually buy from Yesasia and I've had a few defects from my items like when my b/f bought Ayu's "MY STORY" CD, there was a crack on the case on the outside of it. But other than that I never have used cdjapan. I've always used Yesasia.

I bought one aya matsuuura concert dvd from cdjapan and i had to pay those taxes too =\ it was absurd to spend a total of 60 euros for a dvd Confused
I never bought nothing from yeasasia but i'm considering it has an option in the near future because i want to buy some ai-chan cds Confused Won't we really pay the taxes if we buy things from yeasasia? That would be great =\

almost all of my collection is from cdjapan.
well dont forget that cdjap's prices are very lower than yesasia's already
for examble: I wanted to buy fairyland single by ayu and the jam punch tour, I made an order at both sites to see the actual price.. well I didnt really see a difference, cdjapan was more expensive for like a couple dollars, plus that package was registered meaning safest, yesasia doesnt do that.
many people tell that the shipping cost is outrageous, and with the taxes and etc.. yesasia already includes these stuff in the item price, always being at 5 dollars more than cdjp
plus yesasia is very know for mistreating of objects, and many weird events that make it not that trustable, cdjp in the other hand is giving out the 'quality service' feeling. yesasia uses those hard paper envelopes but cdjp always ship things in boxes, with bubly wrapping and a green paper around it as well, I doubt you can have any broken cd or something, or in my case the kimiiro omoi was a bit pressed at the tip.
choice is of course yours, and i will use yesasia from now at some occasions using channel-ais association link, but still cdjapan is the top for me
each time you can make two orders at those sites, and before checking out pick the one with costing less.. you will see the difference isnt that big at all

the topic is old but its a nice time to speak of it since were getting close to most shop-shop period of the year Smile

I've ordered through CDJapan with no problem and no extra taxes. I think CDJapan is great, but the only downside is the shipping costs. But all in all, it's cheaper than YesAsia, and they don't charge you the Japan tax, unlike YesAsia who does. (As in, YesAsia gives us the "tax in" prices, and usually if you're not a resident of Japan, you don't have to pay it). I've also chosen SAL with CDJapan, and it arrived fast and safely! I've purchased EMS shipping from them as well, and received the item same day as it was shipped. Wow. Surprised CDJapan also has this new thing called "frequent buyer points" where you get points from a percentage of your order total that can be used as discount for future orders.

However, YesAsia is more convenient for me, especially with the free shipping and deals like mini japan toy. They've been slowly raising their prices, though, and it's kinda annoying. Blank stare Also, their website is easier to navigate and such. And they also have those poster + cd deals, calendars, collectibles, books, etc. That's a plus. So most of my stuff are from yesAsia or e-bay.

I've shopped with both before so let me do some major comparisons

Yesasia charges me at US dollars... while cdjapan does it at yen...
Yesasia has enveloped like package while cdjapan has more more formally shaped box..
With yesasia some of the LE + first press stuff are not guranteed... while cdjapan you'll know what you get...
yesasia sometimes gives stuff that looks like it has been repackaged more den once...
while cdjapan usually get you off the shelf stuff
Yesasia would be better if u are trying to find rare stuff, collectibles or exported japanese cds which are really cheap..

Generally cdjapan offers a more quality assured service which really tends to be a few bucks more expensive... while yesasia provides a more affordable however a lil bit quality compromised service...

For cds i would reccommend HMV.co.jp... Fedex delivered ^^ it maybe a bit expensive but sometimes it is cheaper than cdjapan's shipping
Amazon is not too shabby but.. they tend not to wrap up b4 packaging...

that's all i have ~
Hope my advice helps those who wants to shop for Ai chan's stuff online~

If I wanted Japanese Version's of CD's or DVD's, I would use cdjapan. Even though the shipping is very expensive, I am sure that my order is being carefully dealt with... also, I've never had to pay taxes of any sort with cdjapan Confused

If I wanted overseas versions, I'd just order it through a shop in the city...

an order of yesasia arrived this week and the jewel case of the CD was broken..
this really dissapointed me and I dont think I will buy again from yesasia stuff that I can find in cdjapan.
those cracks and broken stuff most likely werent done during the shipping since the other CD was intact.. its sad to assume that they even put it broken inside the delivery bag

I shopped at CDJAPAN once and I didn't get charged for the customs but my cousin warned me about it so I guess I'm lucky. Though, I'm probably going to stick with Yesasia since FREE SHIPPING! aha. But that time I only ordered from CDJAPAN because they had this limited version of a single that Yesasia didn't have Tongue
