for those of you who havn't seen the PV yet, you can download it here. again, thank you spellcheck for letting us know that the PV is avilabe, yangirl and Densha Guy for the mirror links, and eyn for the direct link
i've just watched the PV, with no knowledge of what the lyrics or what song is about. (i have heard the song before, it's just that i never bother to look up the lyrics) i wasn't really expecting much from this PV, seeing how Cherish isn't a single and usually ai's non-single PV aren't too special. i'm must say, i'm really satisified with this PV. it's a very simple PV, but when the simplicity of the setting, room, etc. was combine with the special editing/effects and the lighting, it's just amazing.
is this ai's best pv? i think so. if not the best, it's at least one of her best. i wasn't able to take my eyes off this PV. every frame is capture so beautifully. the only thing i don't really like is how they had ai singing with the band near the end of the song. seeing ai singing with the band in the dress didn't really seem right. i think they should have either had ai singing with the band from the beginning or they should have dress ai in a different costume. |

I absolutley ADORE this pv. I really like the parts like with the tv where it kind of felt influenced the ring and where shes walking through that room and they used that uber-creepy jerky speed up thing. I think the pv actually captures the emotion in the song very well. This pv makes me want to watch it over and over again~ |

This PV is another great one from Ai Very nice settings though it's a bit dark She looks great in dress! Yeah.. agreed with Aprilis too... the dress soesn't fit into the band.. should have been cowboy style for example? |

I agree completely that this is some of Ai's best work so far. Like you, Aprilis., I've never read the lyrics or translation to this song, but watching the PV and the expressions Ai was making, along with the special effects and the colors, I could feel the pain in the lyrics. It's difficult to do that in my opinion, and the director did a good job pulling everything together.
The special effect used when Ai was walking was amazing. I think it was a brilliant idea and it really added something special to the PV. The room that she was sitting in and walking through and the TV, that was so cool. The part where she looked out the window and sang was a nice touch too. Like I said, you can feel the sadness.
But...am I the only one who thinks the giant snowflakes were kind of cheesy? It was cheesy at least until the one she was trying to catch dissolved. |

Definately something I was never expecting. It's one of her best PVs ever. Planetarium and Cherish have this dark and mature feel to them which make them sound promising for more material for Ai.
I don't much like her happy/upbeat ones since they usually do not have a plot or a point but this one was ...wow. I got shivers down my spine.. I was electrified and stunned.
The dress I think was used as a contrast to all that dark surrounding and to make her strike out. It could also suggest she is a ghost... or a living ghost meaning she's lonely and abandoned in that manor/castle.
The effects were stunning. It reminded me of Christina Aguleira's Fighter Music Vid and the scary movies like The Ring. Chilling.
I love this PV. I am happy she is diversifying and creating different images of her. I am impressed. |

i love this song, since is one of the first ai's song i listen (nana fan) so when i get to see the pv i screamed so hard!
the whole dark atmosphere, the "castle" and ai walking alone in a white dress with those scary steps... was amazing! the tv, the "big lamp", the mic, the chains ... woo~~ and of course the band!! i'm so happy!! XD i enjoyed so much!
i think that the dress is really nice!! i loved the contrast~
it might be for the hope... even when she's lonely, you can see the light... no matter how many year pass by, she will be still waiting ... looking the window; her fear is reflected in the chains and dark atmosphere, but at the same time that she lives in that mess, she hide behind using it like a shield. |

I totally agree with Ri-chan
I love this video. It reminds me of Utada Hikaru's Final Distance like the animated landscape at the beginning. I really like how Utada did the talking to herself part like the mirror of herself and how there is a barrier.
I am electrified too because it totally feels like a goth. Also reminds me of Witch Hunter when Robin is in front of the television. Looking for the people in the television.
There is a creepiness about the castle thing i think it reflects cherish really well. I think this is one of Ai's utmost interesting and captivating videos! Go Ai chin! |

I think this PV is brilliant! I really didn't know what to expect for Cherish, so when I finally got this downloaded, I was blown away.
I think one of the things that sets Ai apart from other artists is her ability to have such emotional songs/videos with such meaning, like Cherish and Planetarium, and then to turn around and be able to have fun with things like SMILY or Happy Days. While I prefer the more mature, serious version of Ai in her songs and such, I don't think that we should dismiss or want her to completely drop the cute/happy side. This is part of what makes her so refreshing as an artist. You never know what to expect, and I don't think she would have the same appeal if she changed completely.
Overall, I absolutely loved the dark, gothic feel of the video. Definitely some of her best work yet, and really conveys the emotion of the song when you don't even know what the song is about.
Ai hasn't failed to amaze me yet. |

hmm... well i guess i'm one in 10. Personally i don't really like the PV. I think i like Bidama and Kingyo more then this one. As mentioned, it kinda reminds me of the ring or a Dir en Grey PV {>_>;} if you know what i mean... But i must admit i think it's nice that she went with a darker style. Lately it seems like she's really experimenting with different styles. But i don't really like that song that much and for me i didn't really feel like the PV meant anything. Iunno, kinda hard to explain. I guess like the ending just kinda ended. Ya know. Maybe it would have been nice to have a ending of hope or maybe ending with ai returning back to an endless sleep kinda thing. something like that i guess.
But for me it just felt like it just dropped and ended. I guess i'd give it a 6/10 mainly cuz i like that fact that she's really experimenting with different tones of her PV's and music. But maybe for a more dark emo style she could have more blues or other colors. I mean i couldn't really see what's in the room or what it's about. I mean sure there was close-ups on random things and i guess it's trying to be abstract but it just didn't really get the job done for me. For me it kinda felt like it was right inbetween abstract and plain. But didn't make either or.
Aside from my opinion, did you notice that they had a different director, i think. Can anyone see the name? i can't seem to read that last kanji. Also, were those new band members? well the lead guitar guy looked the same, but what happened to the guitarist that looked like a girl?
Also Ai looks Amazingly Great!! |

I love the song, but the Pv is too dark and freaky, i think she is trying to hard to prove that she not just all cute, and innoccent, and that she has a serious side.
Then again, i think she did a good job so far.. so good luck Ai... |

This PV, looking back on all of her others, is definitely on the top of my list. If not the top, then #2. This has been my absolute FAVORITE Ai-chan song ever since it was first released. I'm so happy with the PV. It catches the entire feel of the song. The effects are completely perfect for the song. I love it! And I agree, it definitely reminds me of Hikki's Final Distance PV because of the darkness. I really want to see the whole version of the Cherish PV! |
