Hi there...

I thought of cool game the other day and now that the forum's back, I'm posting. I hope people join in.

This is simple....

Rules:
1. Read what other people thought of and make a mention if you agree.
2. Pick your favorite song (or a song).
3. Pick an artist that you think would do a good cover.
4. Post here and let people know.

I thought of this while listening to my *omg its soo big* playlist the otherday. First up was Rie Fu's new single Tiny Tiny Melody and right after that came Alanis Morisette's Ironic, which got me into thinking, Rie Fu would do such an awesome cover of the song "Ironic". I think this game can work for all songs and all artists but of course it'll be more fun if we keep mixing and matching. I once heard Sixpence None The Richer do a Japanese version of their famous "Kiss Me", not the best example but shows that English artists can do Japanese songs too. Laughing

So I'm going to start things off.

Song: Ironic

a covered track is one that was originally performed by one artist and then "covered" by another as a legal re-release. eg. madonna's "american pie" a few years ago was a cover of the original by don mclean in 1972. hirai ken's "morainaki" was a cover of hitoto yo's original. the corrs recently released a cover of "long and winding road" by the beatles.

a cover is when an artist takes a song previously released and performs it or legally obtains rights to re-release it as his/her own work with original lyrical credit going to the original artist.

dictionary.com - definition of "cover" in terms of Music

i think it comes from old songs being re-done and sold in new "covers" Confused

ergo, the game:

think of a previously released song .. say "shabondama" by otsuka ai and think of someone else who you think would do a good cover of it, say, shibasaki kou. or hyde doing a cover of "Iris" by the goo goo dolls.

i hope that's clearer.

^_^

I'd love to hear kumi cover an old namie with SUPER MONKEY'S song because I think she could really spice it up.

maybe TRY ME *cough* I don't mean that in a bad way Laughing or maybe DANCING JUNK.

but anyways i think kou´s voice could fit in there perfectly. The song what she perfomed in Chakushin ari was awesome (ballad song) and wow her voice is so how would i say strong but also at the same time gentle and voyage is a lovely song and kou´s voice is just so lovely and thats why i think it would be a good cover.

Song: Hoshi no Suna
Artist: Gackt
Cover by: Ayu

Gackt is an amazing artist (and very good looking, but that's the fangirl talking). Hoshi no Suna is a simple ballad only acompanied by piano. The song's really emotional, and had Gackt been Ayu's composer, she would have sung it perfectly because her voice is so emotional.

It would be interesting, but I'm not sure if Ai have the voice to pull it off (because her voice is pretty much the opposite of Mika's). But it would be very interesting indeed...

Okay, now I really want to hear cover of Yuki no Hana by Ai now. Do you think we could email her and ask?
