| What is a good program for converting other video formats into mpeg. I think it's called a encoder or something like that. I got a DVD player that plays MPegs for Christmas and want to convert a lot of my vidoes so I can't watch them on my TV. Links to free ones would be awesome if there are any. |

I'm not sure what you really want here, do you want to turn your avi files into vob i.e. dvd format? If that's the case, here's a list of tools together with some tutorials that you might find helpful: AVI to DVD
If you want to make avi file into normal mpg such as the one used in VCD, you can use virtualdub, which is an excellent freeware video capture/processing utility. You need to install the necessary decoder first, which you should already have if you installed the K-Lite Mega Codec I recommended in the Media Guide thread.
Here's the tutorial that teach you how to use 3 different software to get it done: AVI to MPG
If you want general help about video encoding decoding etc. this website is really helpful with lots of tools and tutorials. Check it out: VideoHelp.com |

| Have you solved this problem yet? I've only ever found one converter that was easy to use and worked well and that is STOIK Video Converter. However....... I did not get it legally. Took me about three years to find it. |
