Seems Ai ranked at #8 in the female category at this survey. Congrats to Ai-chin!
Ayu got ranked as the 1st in the female category. Kumi being the 2nd, Namie the 5th.

I'm a little bit surprised that Ai ended up that low on the list! She usually comes across as very fashionable to me! All her clothes are very in style and up to date with what I see. Not to mention that she's made frequent appearances in fashion magazines, and doesn't she have a column that she writes in Zipper? I would think that with all of these things combined, she'd be higher up on the list.
At least she is on the list though, so congrats to her!

its true that she indeed is a prominent figure in the japanese pop fashion world. however i think (by looking at the list) that the judging critera was more of a style statement. hamasaki ayumi at #1 - its ayu, she's the biggest thing in japan...plus her fashion is always loud and expensive. koda kumi is well, i think recently with her 12 weekly single releases has gotten a lot of press attention and she's changing her dressing style for each single. also her 12 single covers have become the talk of the town so to speak. both aiko and YUKI are both acclaimed fashion icons. the new artist kimura kaela has brought a little of her punkish raggae english street fashion, plus she's been a runway model, been in seventeen, hosts saku saku (morning tv) and is quite well recognised for her fashion sense, and then there's nakashima mika. so considering all that, i think #8 isn't all that bad when u think about it. esp since ai-chin is a rather conservating girl-next-door kind of casual dresser (except when she's performing balads like planetarium and cheris  ) and that is what she's always praised for. but with her photobook last year, and her recent high profile photoshoot in february, along with her colum in zapper and her other appearences on tv and magazines, she's fast becoming a solid and established fashion icon. in the years to come, she will definately give ayu a run for her money. the girl's got lotsa potential. hmm, i feel like watching a few of her pvs now.

Ayu deserved first place... what a diva!!! I do think Otsuka Ai should have been in top 5 at least... but what probably lost her some points is that a lot of the time she dresses very casual... like in most of her PV's of cute songs.... |

Not surprising that Ayu's first. I rather enjoy Ayu's sense of style, although I rather wear Ai's style (it compliments my body more). But against the big icons, no. 8? not bad. Not bad at all.

Hmm...She actually doesn't appear in too much magazines, at least from what I see. At least not the well-known magazines like Popteen or Cawaii that girls are known to follow the trend from there. But she has two very solid ones. However, Ai appearing in Cawaii or popteen would increase notice more.

Koda only got #2 because she's so popular thanks to the 12 singles event. Personally her fashion style doesn't appeal to me because her style is either kinda bizarre or not conservative. I though Ai should have gone higher. I think what lose her some points too was the fact she doesn't feature a lot in some high exposure magazines (ViVi, Cawaii, Seventeen, Girl Pop) |
