OK so first name your city. Than name A cool thing about it (place,event,ect.) then name something stupid about it(it smells, it's dagerous, they don't sell japanese stuff isn't easily obtainible). Anyways I will go first.
Toronoto
Cool: It has lots of Malls (Yorkdale, Pacific Mall, Eaton Center)
Lame: The city spent $2 million on the slogan "Toronto Unlimited", big waste of money and people were pissed of for days.

Lame: Racially segregated suburbs. I live right next to one. =.=, Japanese stuff is so hard to find, and when you do, it costs so much... so so so much. |

I cannot name my city. Nor can I show a pic. YAY FOR NOT WANTING TO BE STALKED FROM RANDOM PEOPLE I DON'T KNOW ONLINE AND THEN DYING AS MUCH AS I WANT TO BUT YAY!!!!! ^_____^ (I know someone will come up and go "BUT VAT ABOUT YOUR IP ADDRESS, HUH? HUH?" and my reply to them is "well that's the internet for you, there's a difference between wanting to get killed and just plain getting killed". ^________^
Cool: Me, and the hugest mall in the area. That's sweet, but too bad I despise shopping. Or else I could have a real load of fun with that. There's also a cool (literally) ice skating rink. Which is good because I love ice skating. We're also fairly close to New York City, Boston, and other big cities which is very nice for weekend trips to those cities.
Lame: It's cold. No famous people. No Japanese folks. ('cept me, of course). No where that SELLS JAPANESE CDS. To you people that live in area's that do: consider yourselves extremely lucky. Did I mention it's cold? Oh, yeah I did. Alright. Um, what else. Really everything is lame. The streets have potholes everywhere. It's really depressing.
Ok, I can go on about how this place is a no-no, but I'll save your souls. ^___________^;;;; I'm such a happy kid. XD |

Cool: as owi kawa said...lots of malls...architecture downtown is amazing...the high art...the galleries...definately the science center...easy access to many things...we have the robarts library at utsg (University of Toronto St.George Campus) it is a hell of a big library and its freaky too...i have been...easy navigation...does that count? multicultural ^^
Lame:transportation...nothing is really together...ttc, yrt, other transit companies, i think it should all be together...transit is not cheap...n its not frequent...i hate yrt the most!  um...streets is full of homeless downtown...kinda freaky...and those buildings downtown with the connected underground malls n stuff is confusing and not cool... |

Cool: Lots to do, can't really get bored, you can get food at 3 in the morning, very diverse, a lot of dif communities, always a new place to discover, quite worldly, every area is "different", real calzones&pizza, KINOKUNIYA and the various Japanese shops and grocery stores, Starbucks in every corner ~yum, free entertainment at your local subway station 
Lame: HUGE, tourists, yuppies, traffic, majorly segregated, spends money on useless "art" exhibits *cough*THECENTRALPARKGATES*cough*, the public school system, the rush hours, businessmen attempting to board off the train during the rush hours, people trying to make the place I live the next trendy area a la SoHo and TriBeCa so that stupid young yuppies can move in and force the good people to move out. >.> GRR, Hunter College (no I don't go there)...
Going to school upstate really has affirmed my belief that I really can't live anywhere else within the United States but New York. Yuppers. |

Cool: I like to shop so yes, Shopping is another way of getting away from this house which is what i try to do as much as i can. The hotness here is pretty nice. If you know where to go in the country there are alot of decent beaches and stuff  .

Cool things? well here aint cool things this is so small city 
i really mean it the population is about 9800 peoples here.
Nearest biggest city in my hometown Is called Turku thats the place where i would want to live.
Lame: nothing to do...rude crazy peoples.
And prove that this is small place like a village with lots of woods and country side here is photo of my lame hometown

there's everything I need, also many japanese tourists hehe
I think the school here's good n the life's easy

maybe there's too much air pollution, but I think mosts big city have it...
and there are many disowned boys who try to talk with me when I'm walink' alone into town  but maybe it's only my problem |

My city is like, more of a town, but we call it a city for some reason haha.
It's called Wetaskiwin, which is derived (is this the right word?) from some cree word. Can't remember what it was.
Something cool about it? Has one of the oldest working water towers in my province...
the bad? Err everything else. Like, there aren't many retail shops, places to go, things to do. We have a lot of bars and liqour stores, otherwise its like ... a old person hick town

Town - Albany, California. It's right next to Berkeley University, and it's a very diverse place, so there's plenty of place to find asian CDs and food and stuff. It's very small, it's a town.
Cool: not really, but we have the second best schools in the county

wow, i learned about so many places. of them all, i've only been to new york so i can't really say i agree with all of you but i do want to go visit all those places now.
my cite... that's a little hard, i was born and grew up in new delhi, capital of india. but for the last five years i've been living in manchester, england (where i am at uni, gulp last year  )
i guess i'll leave the cool/lame of new delhi to my sister nish who knows that city now a lot better than i remember. plus with the commonwealth games scheduled there for 2010, everything is changing

Cool: Full of students, so it's the cheapest place in all of UK (IMO). Because it's full of (university) students, its got a great night life (a testement to that is the fact that i barely remember my first year ). Manchester United, the popular football (soccer) team, The Trafford Center, which is Europe's BIGGEST mall (apparently), the university of manchester (3rd largest university in europe), especially my department (School of Physics) which own the Jodrel Bank Radio Telescope (the 2nd largest in the WORLD!), the university hospitals (forefront of cancer and other medical research in the country), a Subway (the sandwich shops) every couple of blocks so you're never away from healthy fast food... i really love manchester don't i 
Lame: The "Curry" mile - 1 mile of "Indian" food restraunts, that don't taste anything like true Indian food (but its famous nationwide nonetheless), only 2 restraunts in the entire city that serve Japanese food, and both ridiculously classy and expensive, the entire university area is walkable but cheap buses tempt you to waste money  , the trams in the town center, as soon as they leave the town square, they become "Speedy Bullet Trains of Death!" ... trams aren't supposed to go that fast, they aren't supposed to take corners at 80mph!! Traffic on match day, omg it's impossible.

Cool things about Edmonton: 1. It's a small city, with few suburbs. After living in Ottawa, Vancouver and Toronto, I think that small cities are better, especially since I can drive out to the mountains so quickly from Edmonton, whereas I felt sort of trapped in downtown Toronto. (That's just me, though! ) 2. Following (1) it's a very friendly city, and I've met a lot of interesting people since coming here. 3. Oodles of glass pyramids!
Not so cool things about Edmonton: 1. Yes, it's a little hard to get imported music here, but I'm used to mail order. 2. - and this annoys me the most - the bus system sucks! It's slow and unreliable, plus the navigator function on their website (the thing that's supposed to tell you which buses to take to get to whatever place) is very stupidly designed.

Cool: it's the bigest city in my country, there are many shops with anyting you can possibly want to buy, there are many possibilities for jobs, There is a mountain close to the city, where you can relax in the holidays
Lame: Polution, problems with the garbage , very bad transport

Cool things - 1. we have a lot of pound shops, 2. Warwick Davies lives here (the guy who played Willow in the film of the same name), 3. we're an equal distance from the midlands and London, 4. we have a 24 hour Tesco, 5. i just discovered that we have a Japan Society! (which i'm looking into)
Lame things - 1. the live music scene is very dull (not to my taste anyway) 2. no independent music stores, 3. there are no Japanese courses or teachers, 4. our sports teams are awful, 5. we only seemed to get mentioned on national tv when they need an example of a boring city.
i think my lame things could be said about most places in the UK so i just need to get out of this country and i'm sorted |
