Frienger is a nice song, but it's not as catchy as some of the past upbeat singles (SMILY, Happy Days). But who knows, maybe it will break the 200k with the promotion of the tour.
Well, I prefer it over Happy Days (coz I just hate those filtered vocals), and that sold 160k approximately. So I would like to see Frienger exceed those sales at least.
But honestly, I think Otsuka Ai is at a point at her career in which she should aim for a consistency in singles sales. And I really would like to see her selling 200k each single. |

HilaryDuffFanboy wrote: Thanks for posting the sales.. but somehow I think that those aren't the final figures yet. The week hasn't even ended yet.... I think they are just very accurate estimations based on the trends for half a week.
Anyway, 70k is... well, disappointing for me since PLANETARIUM and SMILY had higher first week sales. And after her most successful studio album, I really thought Otsuka Ai could follow it up with a single that sold 100k in the first week at least.
Actually, the week ends today (Monday). These numbers are just rounded up/down. So, the "real" number is somewhere between 69501-70499. And considering there haven't been that many tv appearances yet and the tour stopped for the weekend, 70k is quite good. |

That would explain a lot then because I was checking sales charts on another website and the dates for their weeks didn't match with Oricons. >_>
Then is that to say Frienger has not been on sale for one full week yet? |

| I was really expecting Frienger to surpass Startin'/Born To Be... since Ayu didn't have good sales by any means. Hopefully Otsuka Ai can somehow beat her... I notice Otsuka Ai's sales are more gradual than Ayu's.... So with more promotion with TV lives and the tour, then I don't see why not. |

| Yes, I'm hoping it would beat ayu's "Startin'/Born to be" as well. the single only sold 179k so far? I think ai-chan has a good chance of surpassing that number. |

| Gah. Moi, I'm still hoping it passes the 200K mark, assuming its chart life is as long as Planetarium's. |

^To be honest, I doubt it. PLANETARIUM had a tie-in with a popular drama, and that boosted it up quite a bit
I don't think this single's going to reach 300K, although 200K is possible. But I'm estimating somewhere around 170-190K though... |

^ Oh, I know it won't. But it's just that I liked Frienger more than SMILY, and SMILY did rather well on the charts. But maybe SMILY's status as a double-A helped some too, I wouldn't know.
~ 150K sounds like a reasonable estimate and I'm perfectly happy with that, although it would be cool if Ai could beat Ayu in sales, now that she's beaten BoA by a mile. |

^I like Frienger better than smily too (actually, SMILY is my least favourite song from her...) but I think the status of being her first double A-side helped and I think it came with a first press (correct me if I'm wrong)...
Who's releasing next week? |

| It wasn't unexpected. I thought Freinger was pretty mediocre. ^^;; But I also thought that people would be more fond of her upbeat tunes so it would do better. Ah well, it is still pretty good in comparision to others in the industry. |

SMILY/Bidama had stickers for first press. Frienger does also have first press! Apparently, it's either the CD or the packaging that is available in five different colours, and those five colours are the ones of the Frienger costumes.
Next few weeks, I THINK there's more Johnny releases..... don't quote me on that... and then there's many popular female artists releasing a single in May. |

SMILY gives me a headache everytime I listen to it, so that's why I avoid it...
Frienger dropped down to #6 today, and the new release is SMAP, which is a JE group. |
