i started downloading anime and sentai series songs. At first i considered them as "novelty" songs.

My brother and i especially liked L'arc~en~Cial, specifically the song "the fourth avenue cafe", the 4th ending song of Samurai X anime.

i like Laruku so much that i downloaded Niji, Caress of Vwnus and so on...

As a music lover, i decided i needed to try other Jpop and Jrock artists.
(thank goodness i discovered shiina Ringo, i am so in love with her)

Eventually i also liked listening to J-indie. i especially like The Band Apart and acidman. i also listen to fra-foa. Well, they were signed to TOY FACORY but i still consider them indie because their music is not mainstream. Too bad they disbanded.

i also recently discovered Ai Otsuka, so yeah, you can call me a new "convert". hehe

Actually I didn't like J-Pop at all before going to Japan. When I was in Japan, my friend sent me some J-Pop mp3's. I tried to listen to them because I felt like I should be trying to get into the Japanese culture while I was there. I didn't really like most of the songs that he sent me (actually I still don't really like those songs even now).

After that, I made some Japanese friends who made some Japanese cd's for me of their favourite artists. I also went to rental stores where you can rent cd's. I rented cd's based on recommendations from my Japanese friends. I started to like Japanese songs more and more.. Now I love J-Pop.. maybe because it brings me back good memories.. and also a good way to keep up with my Japanese

What got me into J-pop was ANIME!!! opening and ending themes!! Back then I was just listening to random j-pop songs... not knowing much about each artist and blah... the first group that I REALLY got into was w-inds.~!! And then since then I got into more groups and then til now Smile But the first jap song that I remember listening to and really liked was Love psychedelico's Last smile. But I do think I've heard Ayumi before that song but I guess I was more of a chinese-pop freak before.

The first time I really started liking Jpop music was when I was in Tokyo in summer, 2001, and I saw Morning Musume's The Peace! On TV and I thought they were really good so I did more researching (on the internet!!) and became addicted to them! Smile They're my first Jpop band! ^^

anime was definately the one tat capture my attention on j-pop. I remembered watching cardcaptor sakura and tat show introduced me to many cute anime songs. I was totally crazy abt it. But the person who realli made me like j-pop even more is AYUMI! I remembered watching music station late at nite and I came across Ayumi singing Audience. I was blown away. In my mind, I had to get tat song. Soon Tv started showing A best and I know I had to get tat album. Haha. I 'm definately a Ayu hardcore fan! Giggle

the starting point of mine are quite strange Shifty i remember last year during some special occasion which is a public holiday[i think is christmas..not sure^^""], so they broadcast "第18回日本ゴールドデ" which have many jpop/rock artist performing. While watching i saw a band called "Every Little Thing" singing "Unspeakable" and that moment, i was "!" so i went on searching more and more music of them , after that i was exposed to jpop and eventually lead me to here Smile
p.s: maybe becoz of this incident, ELT alway remain no.1 in my heart lol

What got me into Jpop was my studies of Japanese.
It started when I was 12 years old, but in the beginning I only read manga and watched anime, but last summer I decided to start to listen to japanese music. I found an online radio channel, wonderful Japan-a-radio, and wrote down the artist's name when I heard someone good. So after some days, I think, I watched the list and found Ayumi Hamasaki's name the most times! This made me buy I am... and LOVEppears, and I was in love with her music.
Recently I have started to listen to many other singers/bands, but it's still Ayu that is the best for me!

The Gundam SEED Destiny end song by Nami Tamaki got me into JPop. Then I started liking Mika Nakashima and on one of her Music Station appeareances I saw Ai Otsuka singing one of her songs and though she was really good. And now my addiction slowly grows Love

Thanks to Hikaru Utada, who sang "Simple & Clean" in Kingdom Hearts. I thought the song rocked in the ad, and the ad was shown so often that I began to be addicted to it. 1 year later, I searched on the Internet for it and downloaded 2 songs from her: "Hikari" and "SAKURA DROPS". Hikaru Utada's "Hikari" is my first contact to J-Pop, in 2003. After I discovered Ayu (Thanks to "Ayu Trance 3"!) and DAI ("Raven"). I'm still a fan of Ayu but not much of DAI... They're great but too repetitive.. And then I discovered Ai in 2004 when she just released "Amaenbo" =)
