my brother bought this anime the other day and says, "its great watch it" so i go, "ok" and late late late monday night (as in tuesday morning) i decided to watch it on a whim. IT WAS CRAZY!!! ^_^ it totally caught me off guard towards the end, plus, i wasnt sure what to expect. the ending was really sad. it was a great movie, tho, i recommend it.
so has anyone ever seen it?
and feel free to ask me about it if you're interested. its a great movie.
brief synopsis:
japan following WWII under the direction of a totalitarian government tries to maintain order and rebuild by implementing a special police force. however, when an underground violent resistance called the sect begins causing trouble, special police retaliation creates fallout. now, the japanese public is clammoring for the special forces to be disbanded, while a power struggle between the regular police and the special forces has begun to heat up. in the midst of this, Constable Fuse (pron. FOO-SAY^_^) of the the special forces comes under fire for an incident that led to a city wide power outage during a riot. because he was unable to fire on a young female sect member during the operation (which allowed her to set off a bomb that caused the blackout), Fuse is sent back to the academy for retraining. while there, the events of that night continue to plague his thoughts, and he seeks comfort in the arms of a young woman names Kei, who is the sister of the young girl that Fuse was unable to shoot. however, with the struggle for dominance between the regular police and the special forces coming to a head, nothng is quite what it seems, as lies, secrets, and conspiracies multiply.
thats about the best i could come up with off the cuff, but theres more to it than that. call it an appetizer. the story also involves a deeper parable, which questions whether or not human beings are more than just sophistocated animals. and like i said, the ending is pretty tragic and thers a huge twist that i prolly should have seen coming, but then again, the story is kinda surprising. so much happens that you dont expect.
