I'm quite sure audience recordings don't exist, since people are not allowed to take in such devices into the concert. And the sounds you mention are backing vocals, and yes they are pre-recorded. They are more like special effects in my opinion, since they are filtered to sound different..... I'm quite sure you are referring to Bidama and possibly other performances......

Otsuka Ai has her male band as backing vocals for upbeat songs, and sometimes she just fully solo's it, which is the case with her ballads, no one backs her in Planetarium, LOVE MUSiC, Neko ni Fuusen etc.

Haneari Tamago was absolutely amazing!!! Same with friends.
I absolutely love the feathers part, it gave me shivers. The subtle beauty of it! KIngyo Hanabi was amazing!! Kingyo Hanabi is probably one of my favourite songs too Giggle

I love how we get to see Ai evolve as both a musician and a performer each year. This DVD is really top notch. Her voice sounds very clear and on tune and I love it when she plays piano! Though I wish that Kingyo Hanabi were a little longer (it's my favorite Ai-chin song!). I like seeing how Ai goes from being serious and emotional with Friends to being silly and totally rambunctious with the Frienger encore. It was so funny and cute when she was talking to the Friengers..when she was saying..."The red one is a little short, huh?" and "Everyone is waving left to right but the green one is waving back and forth. Oi, that's wrong!" XD

The band is really fun to watch too. AI's concerts just always have this amazing energy to them Wink

I finally finished watching it. I still can't get over the leg stroking. Watching Ai be overtly sexy was very cool but it kind of only lasted for that one song.

I really enjoyed Friends, it was very nice with the single violin accompaniment. I also noticed how that song seems to be absolutely perfect for her vocal range. Clever Ai-chin Smile Her voice has a lovely quality to it when she hits the high notes.

The falling feathers were very beautiful and the accapella intro to the song made it even more beautiful.

It was great to finally see Frienger with a live band

The way she kept starting Sakuranbo had me laughing a lot.

The second half was a lot more lively but it's weird because during the first half you could really see how much Ai has grown up since the Jam Punch tour. She's become a woman. Then she went all childish again for the second half Giggle I'm not complaining! She can pull of sexy and childish, now that's a talent! Laughing

The new members of the band were cool although the bassist didn't get out to the front Sad I suppose they can't all be crazy, there must be a balance to the madness Giggle Oh and monkey keyboard man (what I've always called him) singing Ishikawa Osaka was quite unexpected and brought forth one of my many lols.

Ai shouting "tadaima" was a nice touch, especially because I knew what it meant Smile

Overall a very enjoyable concert.

I shall end with the leg stroking....

not convinced. if you compare the backing vocals on 5:09am and biidama they are quite different. it may be my imagination, but the harmonies in biidama sound like they are a layer over the live sound. i dont think it is just the volume either. thats why i think they have probably been dubbed in later.

as i said before, only listening to an audience recording will confirm this.

I don't have much experience on this but it would seem strange to dub backing vocals in afterwards when they could be done live. I know that drummers sometimes will have a click track playing so they can keep in time with the backing track which may include samples, backing vocals, strings and all that. For a piano solo song it would be hard to have pre-recorded backing vocals unless someone pressed a button to trigger them at exactly the right time.

I can't really be bothered to do any research on this one though Giggle

I loved the concert (DVD), and now I'm kicking myself for not going to the actual concert. I moved to Kyoto at the beginning of May, so I definitely could have gone to the concert in Osaka (which is the one in the video). It was a great show.

i think tt the concert consist of live and background music.. the original song is played and the band jus played on to further enhance the drum bass and piano part.. there are also so sound effects played by the red shirt guy! tts wad i think though! Laughing

there may be some editting of the concert to make it nicer as in to join the parts together.. most of the japanese live performances consits of playing live by the band and playing the song at the same time..

Has anyone else noticed that Ai's voice has gotten a lot better, she seems to be staying on tune a lot more, in the older performances, she sometimes was off key, I found that she is sounding a lot better....

I also concur with this observation. I think it's only natural that her voice will improve with each tour she does. I suppose a singing voice needs stamina too.

That's very true. But I also think that the recording for JAM PUNCH wasn't that great. In some instances when she was singing, her voice would just die off to say, only 50% volume, and this was quite prevalent in the Daisuki Da Yo performance when she was stressing those long notes. But before that tour, she was fine on the television shows where she hadn't even been able to warm her voice up.

Overall this tour was better for live singing, but I think she can definitely get even better. Nod

Yea, comparing to Jam Punch 2005, Love Cook Tour seems to be better as she improves~ I'm always amazed at how she can sing so well even live in concert! There were some realli minor mistakes that she made throught out the tour ~ The point is Ai Ai has improved alot since her last concert~~ That was what me n HilaryDuffFanboy were talkign about yesterday~
