Just No. The reason why i started my interest on Jpop is simply because there is integrity in the music. Japanese hiphop is rubbish(my opinion). Japanese RnB is good because they have the harmony and improvised chords worked out. I always hated rapping because it doesnt require skill to sing. Music should be made up of melodies, harmonies etc etc. I idolize ai-chin because she has talent in writing music and she plays an instrument. She doesnt need to sell her "sexuality" like some other jap artist to get famous. I respect her for just making music rather than appearing in erotic PVs to turn the guys on and make money from that.

I'd rather she doesn't, but I'll support her all the same, so I voted for "yes."

Like every other person. I reckon quality is more important. As long as her R&B/Hip-Hop delivers quality I'd be fine with that. However if she suddenly went metal or death metal or something on the lines of that then...Well, that'd be a different story.

In all honesty I wouldn't. Ai Otsuka fills a certain part of my music spectrum perfectly and if she did R&B or hip hop she just wouldn't do that for me. No thanks, I'll keep my Ai just the way she is. Grin

I listen to J-pop to get away from all of the RnB and Hiphop that has insinuated its way into our society from America (sorry to those people who like it). I would probably still listen to Ai-chan if she did make RnB, but I think it would be a waste of both her talents and her persona... Sad Nevertheless, I don't think I could stop listening to Ai's music Giggle

Of course I'd still like Ai!

If this was the direction Ai wanted to go, I'd support it. I enjoy a little bit of a hip-hop beat now and then. Tongue Everything she does is amazing. She'd bring an entirely new flavor and sound to hip-hop.

Do I think she'd ever do this? Most likely not. But then again, Ai is full of surprises. I just don't feel like this is her style.

That would definately be....different. I would support her all the way~! Since she has quite a large vocal range, she might actually be able to pull it off with her type of voice Boogie . But if it came to rapping, then that'd be a whole different story Shocked .

Yeah, Ai-chan rapping would be so comic. Giggle I'm laughing just thinking about it Tongue... She should do a rap song just because it would be so funny Boogie

Pleased Haha, you know it would have a very unique and cute flavour to it coming from Ai too! I can picture the expression she'd have so vividly; it's that 'wannabe tough and ready but inherently cute' face she manages to pull of so well. I agree that I wouldn't like her if she was a rap artist but one quick rhyme from her wouldn't hurt one bit; I'd love to hear that!

I'm the one who voted No.

And my reason:

I DISPISE r&b and Hip-hop. I cannot stand that style over here in America, it's crap. The lyrics are repitive and the music is too. I don't think that style is even invented in Japan yet anyway. Koda does pop still, i don't think it would be R&B. Namie Amuro TRIED to do a hip hop album but she's still pop.

Honestly, if Ai switched to that style (which i dont' think she will ever), then i wouldn't listen to her music anymore. If my favorite artist, Nami Tamaki switched over too, I wouldnt' listen to Nami. I just cannot stand that style, sorry.

Thank you!
finally, someone who agrees! Nod
i hate that genre, and thats like, all they play on american radio now! Tongue
and, it reminds me of rap, which is even worse! Mad
if you can actually tell what they're saying,
you just might be moved to vomiting. Shocked
the lyrics are completely repulsive, and i cant understand how anyone can actually enjoy listening to it.
ok, im sure there are some exceptions(so if you like it, dont hurt me!) but for the most part,
...
eew. No
and of course, one little word that means everything, that sums it all up:
opinion. Nod

No, I like Ai because of her unique voice and style. It wouldn't be the same if she would sing R&B songs.

kazfz is hurt, no music is rubbish or crap, worst still....... mind your words [ kinda rude to artise/someone who produces these music ]....... its not crap or what, its just one word called " APPRECIATION "..... you dont have appreciation towards hiphop music, then dont talk rubbish...... you can mention jpop, some of the jpop arent that nice [ so i think you gonna call that crap as well then you might as well say jpop is crap... ]

kinda offended but anyway nvm.... i offended you.. i did and i know but i just wanna point out that it is rude to people who make music and in the end, leaving someone to say that is CRAP, you dont know how bad it feels [ but thats the worst thing you can ever know... ] - low quality music isn't crap, no one is great from the starting

i got irritated not just becos that i like a rang of music from hiphop to opera. Not much would say opera is nice as well and start saying its crap but how many can sing that song?... its the same as hearing someone saying your a crap that listens to crappy songs. [ although my opinion is used, crap still sounds ???????? to me ]

We'll get to listen to her rap the cute way ^__^ imagine how cute that is gonna be @@ screams.... i didnt vote tho, cos i have to listen before i make any comments.. Making this comment, i make people hate me.... No Music Is Crap [ i stay with that ] - i dont appreciate weird techno/euro dance music some japanese artise are producing [ i dont really like tunes like that, sounds noisey to me but some are still good ^_^, just not liking most of them...]

Koda kumi is more on the pop side.......

I'm not really offended about the fact that many people think that hip-hop and rap are rubbish or whatsoever. Really I'm not offended. But I think the fact that you can rap doesn't mean you can sing. In hip-hop songs for example ... the chorus alyways has to be sang just like a normal chorus. Meaning you have to be able to sing that part even if it is just a short part. I like Japanese hiphop, Home Made Kazoku at least. It is very hard to think of sentences that rhyme, have sense and meaning and then fit it all to a beat. The hardest challenge for rappers is the freestyling. I mean ... I wouldn't be able to think of sentences that Rhyme and have meaning in 3 seconds or less... and fit that all in a beat. So please... don't say that rapping is not talent. But still... you have the right to hate rap. Love
