I've read that Kizz saw his first two PV, one of them being ayu's real me, which got him addicted to Jpop music. I bet that's probably the same to many of you who happen to listen to one Jpop song or a Jpop MTV, and then start to learn that Jpop is an interesting genre of music.
I'm just wondering, how you manage to find your first Jpop stuff, either music of MTV (PV), that gets you into this Jpop madness. For me, it's kinda hard to imagine people from say, Poland or France, to get exposed to Jpop. Me myself, I'm from Malaysia and it's not hard to see Jpop advertisement being shown on TV or Jpop music being played on radio, so that's nothing special if I happen to like them under such exposure.
Tell me your Jpop story if you wish. I bet internet plays a major role for spreading the seed of Jpop, but there gotta be something to trigger this Jpop monster inside you.
For me, ayu is the first Jpop artist I like, even till now. I believe I learn about her music from either TV or radio, which happen to play and show some Jpop CM and songs once in a while. What make Jpop special is that ayu is the first artist who show me that it is possible to love every single song from an album. In my previous experience (before listening to ayu), I always think it's stupid to buy an album just for a few good songs in it, but ayu totally changed my opinion, and I get addicted to her songs, every single one! I started to buy her LOVEppears album, then Duty, and so on. End of story.
That's how I get started. Your turn. |

hmmm, as for me, i first took notice of japanese songs while i was watching anime
this was like, years ago ^^;
and then i read in a newspaper once, they wrote an article on namie amuro, coz her mom just passed away, and they were asking what next for the j-pop queen (yes, at that time, namie amuro kicked ass, she was the one who revolutionized j-pop to what it is today)
i noticed that she was real pretty in the pictures, so i started to look for her album, but couldnt find any
then a few years after that, my friend gave me ayumi's LOVEppears CD, and i totally got hooked in ayumi. that's when i started to find some songs from namie amuro, and more of ayumi, and so on
so yea, thats how i started out |

haha, ys(aka eyn) no doubt is a pure hardcore fans of ayu, bcos the time i was hanging around with him, he only talked bout ayu when we came across with Jpop. When i stepped into his messy room, there was a only spot where never get mess up, guess where is it? Obviously, it was the place where he keep his ayu album n posters.
Well, as i said in the previous thread, i get attached with Jpop since i bought the first album of hikki. After that i found out ys love jpop too, i think that was one of the reasons that we keep hanging around. Besides, the tv would showed music-station every week, this literally make me fully attached with Jpop. |

In Poland we don't get much of Japanese culture... recently (last 2 - 3 years) brought some more mangas (still not that much as in france or germany) some anime's (but very universal ones like dragon ball, sailor moon, naruto, pokemon, yu-gi-oh) but jpop is unknown here. without internet i would be unable to love jpop. internet is everything for me as i don't have that much money to buy 10 singles every month its not hard though, life of jpop fan. as long as there's internet and other fans... we can make it ! jpop fans unite! |

| Hmm... here we have some anime thanks to Italy. And recently some manga licensed by Tokyopop has found its way here. I got into J-Pop mostly by listening to Anime opening theme songs and then a friend of mine started sending me Ayumi songs and I then started looking for them myself and so on.. I ended up being a J-Pop fan. |

as for me. I was into korean pop first. about 5 or so.
Then i started to get into Anime. Always loved the openings and ending. I think early around 6th grade, i was playing dance dance revolution. I was like, wow these japanese songs are pretty good. I think it was the "luv me" song. It was all animish and stuff. So i went online to go download it.. couldn't find it at first. there was this recommendation section. I just clicked on some random name; it was Ayumi hamasaki's Evolution. After hearing that for the first time, i was blown away. Hardcore fast singing! haha..
OHH YEAH.. i saw some pixs of Hiroko Anzai. She was a model at first. So.. i assumed all j-pop singers were super cute haha |

It all started by my sister... The original die.hard-jpop.fan ><. She got it from her Jap friends back in France { we went to an international school ^^ } and when we went to england she showed me Renai Revolution 21 { MM } and i was like waow.... I thought they were like 12 but they were in their teens.
Then my sister downloaded Ayumi's Real me and i was like o.o!!! That's also when i started dancing { i now know Ayu's Real Me dance moves >< } and so on and so forth...
Internet has been playing a major role in my exposure to J-Pop <3 |

Like most people I know, it started with anime. I was unknowingly listening to "J-Pop" while watching the anime opening and ending themes. At first I thought their music sounded a bit different then the usually type of music people in the US get exposed to, so it didn’t catch my interest. But then I talked to some of my friends about it and it turned out they were big fans of J-Pop. They suggested me to listen to “BoA” or “Utada Hikaru”.. I downloaded a few of their songs and was surprised by how good they were. After searching around for more, the name “Ayumi Hamasaki” popped up and I decided to try out some of her songs too (I remembered that she was the one that sang Dearest for Inuyasha <3). I’m really glad that I did because M and evolution made me addicted…
Its hard to get any J-Pop stuff here, especially if you’re unable to buy off the internet. The closest I got to was a BoA promotional poster. |

the first JPop songs i heard were anime songs, like just communication. then i heard utada's first love and i fell in luv with it, so i bought the album for that. then my friend told me about ayu and now, shes my fav artist. utada is my second fav artist and ai is third only cause i have only listened to her for a few months compared to years for ayu and utada
i am happy to have spread my luv for jpop to my group of friends, and them to their other friends so now, pretty much all my friends listen to jpop |

The first song I ever heard of Japanese was Connected from Ayu in Germany you can buy many remixes from her... The next single was "M" (Above an Beyond Remix)
And I heard before from a girl with name Ayumi Hamasaki... because i was interested in Japan since I´m 12 an 1 1/2 year ago I understand that Ayu was Ayumi Hamasaki... I heard many songs i love her voice
Later I heard Kingyo Hanabi from Ai an sice that moment I hear her music. |
