First of all, the reason why there are so many people in the birthday list is because it is mandatory to fill in your birthday while registering. As a result, almost all members have their birthday (fake or not) in the database and the list just shows those users that have upcoming birthday regardless of their activity in the forum.
I have changed the criteria of picking members for upcoming birthdays. Now, only users that have more than 5 posts will appear in the list.
Leechers aren't that bad an issue here anymore I believe. There's not much thing to leech if they are truely leechers, so most of them will probably just stop visiting here since they can't find what they are looking for.

We do have some exclusive stuff because sharers/uploaders like people who appreciate their work too.

The one thing mod couldn't do is merging threads (phpBB limitation), and that's the thing that takes most of my time usually. The less moderators the easier it is to maintain I believe, at least people know where to look for help and I don't have to spend time repeating how to do this and that to each new mods. With all that said, I'm still trying to find people who are willing to split my duty here, such as managing the VIP list and looking for members who have access to the download forum (they used to participate), are constantly downloading new material posted, yet not participating in forum anymore (I have a log of download history fyi ).

I'm sure if this is implemented a lot of user will just spam and lie and try whatever things to get what they want.
Regarding encouraging users to post, I don't think it will be effective since an email or private message couldn't really build up the passion that they didn't have in the first place. Well, that's just my opinion. If someone have plans that can get zero posters to start participating feel free to let me know.
Lastly, about deleting inactive users, I don't really delete any account even though I said I would in the registration page. I don't think it will make a difference deleting those accounts, since those leecher don't really care, no? I'll just leave it as it is for now, maybe someday when they decided to use their account, it will still be intact, such as the case for Yunchen. |

I doubt you'd choose me for mod. Remember how many times I posted in the wrong threads? |

I think eyn's decisions are wise enough. Or maybe because i didn't think it was a big problem in this forum. |

| Yes, I did notice that the birthday list is cut down considerably. That's a really good thing! I think choosing mods is quite an important thing to do, but you have to set down so much criteria to see who will really fit the job. If it's absolutely necessary, it would be good if we could have an open discussion as to who should be one. But it's still a good idea to have at least 1 or 2 mods, in my opinion. =D |

| hm...IF it is necessary, maybe there can be some sort of application/interview process. i'm sure eyn must pick carefully because a lot of responsibility falls on the mod(s)... |

| Yup. Choosing mods is not easy. Mods that are not reliable or capable enough of taking care of the forum doesn't help much, instead it can cause confusion between mods. This shld be carefully considered. |
