I watched the show last night too. Ai looked stunning with her gorgeous white dress. Her hair was perfect. And she sang very well too. Everything was so right. However, I think she almost cried while she was singing. Don't know why, maybe she got into the song deeply.
However, it's a bit sad that the red team lost again though this year's red team performances're excellent to me. Ayaka performed Mikka Zuki very well. Also, Mihimaru GT, Angela Aki and Dreams come true. The White Team did it well too. WaT was charming. Porno Graffiti looked cool. SMAP's still popular as usual. However, DJ OZMA's performance seemed to be overdid. The dancers happened to be almost nude. They claimed that they wore Bodysuit, though. However, with your eyes, you could hardly tell the difference.
Anyway, I did have a great time watching Kouhaku this year. Wish you guys Happy New Year too. Be happy and be successful in everything you guys do!!
Hopefully, this will be a fantastic year to Ai chan too. |

KTSF showed this from 1-6pm here. I caught most of the whole thing--my parents kept asking me who each performer was (I tried my best to give running commentary...). I was surprised at how many enka singers participated (makes sense though, as it is a show aimed at the public, not just the youth of Japan).
I agree, Ai's performance was practically flawless! Loved her outfit too!
bebe, I noticed in one of your other comments that you also saw Ai in her red kimono. For others, you can see her during Dreams Come True's performance when the camera pans the left side of the stage holding the other artists. Hopefully someone can get a screencap, 'cause she looked so elegant--such a beautiful pattern!

However, with your eyes, you could hardly tell the difference. Yeah, that was pretty ridiculous. I loved the look on Nakama Yukie's face after the performance. She was like, 'Umm... Ok, just moving on, now... ' But the broadcast I was watching put up this big white bar across the screen to cover the dancers and cut the end of the performance off. So ridiculous... |

Aww, wish I could have caught this! Hopefully screen caps or even streams will be available so I can catch Ai's performance! From everyone's comments it seems to have been a wonderful live by Ai-chin. |

Kohaku was very good show this year! like other years, complicated and beautiful! Otsuka's performance was so sweet and fine! she was very emotional when singing! My opinion: her performance was simple and plain and personal as Otsuka's sweet personality, yes? for this reason performance by Bonnie Pink and Aiko appeared stronger, also Angela Aki playing piano and singing. I think Otsuka will be more relax in the future when she has more experience with Kohaku which is the most honor musical show in Japan and everyone is anxiety! when she or he is invited to appear on this show.
We did not see silly Ozma performance after he went behind screen, our Los Angeles station showed other visual of pretty sea shore waves during this time! probably they thought some nude look people are embarassing for TV! I agree. Anyway, after performance was finished we could see Kohaku hosts again. |

i dont think its the best renai shashin performance she seemed like she was gonna cry
the flower in her hair is really big and distracting from her pretty face!
her dress is very pretty though |

here is the screen cap of Ai in the red kimono.
It's kind of blurry, but it's the best I can do. |

Thank you! Ai always looks stunning when she wears a kimono! She should have a kimono collection like Kumi has. |

Thank you so much for the screencap, zefiris!
Welcome to the forum! You should introduce yourself here!
How did you choose your username? (I'm always curious about the Zs... )
I just knew someone could manage to capture it!
That is such a beautiful kimono. Too bad there aren't red-carpet style pics of Ai in it...
Thanks again! |
