Kerushii, the initial reason of Iraq invasion is because of Bush saying that they have massive destruction weapons, and therefore could be threatening. But the fact is, Iraq did NOT have any of those. This is revealed lately, and has created Bush some credibility problem as result.
I agree with Mansley's opinion towards Saddam Hussein's death. And i believe more violence is inevitable. Already bombing's heard in Iraq right after his execution. And now the pro-Hussein part of Iraq is protesting over the video of the execution. Is this the democracy US wanted to bring? |

| i forgot to answer one more thing kerushii asked...it was the iraqis that decided the execution, at least that is what is being publicized. i believe the US is still largely pulling strings in that country so i will not be surprised if this was not the case. |

oh i see.
now i remember! they were blabbing on about weapons of mass destruction. yeah...i remember.
ok...so like, bush just woke up one morning and said, "i think iraq has WMD's. why don't i send our people in there?!" and sent in troops? or was there a reason he thought there were WMD's?
well, he's dumb anyway
and why the heck is the video of the execution on the internet?!
that's just...not right
i imagine it'd be quite disturbing as well
ah, so it appears that the iraqis chose the death sentence, but we don't really know.
makes sense.
but like you said earlier, it wasn't exactly hard to see that most of the US people wanted hussein dead, so other countries may blame the US, you're right. |

| I don't really know if Iraqis in a whole decided him to be sentenced. The current Iraq government is run by Shiite group, and they are against Saddam Hussein, so the outcome is pretty clear i think. Moreover, what do u think country like US would do if he is not sentenced to death? I don't think US government will just agree and let it be. So basically i don't think there's any other option even though it was made in the sense that he was judged by the people. |

Mansley wrote: hm...i believe this was in response to the WTC. after the US invaded afghanistan, bush was all like "irag has weapons of mass destruction, terrorists! we must invade blah blah blah"...baka. anyway what is this like three years later? well no weapons of mass destruction and etc etc thousands of US military deaths and probably tens of thousands of iraqi deaths later you can see this was a bad bad idea.
more on subject, there are two main sects of islam, the sunni and the shiite. these two sects are fighting amongst themselves in iraq and the US is in the middle trying to peacekeep. anyway that is how things are i believe.
They ve always fought amongst each other. |

| all in all, bush makes bad decisions. him and rumsfeld even allowed torturing in the investigations against the suspected terrorists based on ethic profiles. |

True true. The sickest statement he ever made was that God called him to start the war in Iraq. Now that is Sick. |

| he actually made that statement? wow that is disgusting. up there with whoever from his cabinet denying the existence of global warming. it's going to be two more long years and we can finally get him out of office. (barring some sort of impeachment or assassination or massive health problem or anything else of the sort) |

two whole years?! good grief!
and i agree with LinLin and Mansley, that's a pretty sick statement.
just who does he think he is?!
@ LightDay
oh, yeah, that makes sense.
and you're right, even if iraq didn't choose to execute him, the US wouldn't have just turned the other way.
why is their government run by a religious group?
a country shouldn't be run by one religious group that forces themselves on others, when it's so apparent there are other groups present. |

Well Kerushii, Iraq and most middle eastern countries are all religious-based countries. Meaning Islam is the religion for all, so for the country to be run by a certain group is not too surprising. It's just a division between them, just like political parties, but theirs are slightly different.
About Bush's statement, i never heard of that. But if it is true, then that's actually a disgrace and disrespect to all religious people. And what would people think of US if their president said God asked him to invade Iraq? It's almost the same as the extremists (who became terrorists) saying God asked them to bomb US. Fair enough after all? |

^ oh, i see.
well, that's a shame. i guess when you compare it to the political parties, that makes sense.
and i was talking to this boy that sits across from me in english/science class about this a little bit. only, he's a bush supporter. he was saying that if bush hadn't gone into iraq (well, that's how he said it, but bush himself isn't exactly fighting) then the terrorists woulda bombed us. i was like, "uh, well they did bomb us, where were you?"
but yeah, i ended up winning
yeah, i hadn't heard bush's statement either. but that is pretty sick.
they probably didn't wanna publicize that much in the US. |
