| It'd be nice if we got a Ventrilo server. If you don't know, it's a type of program like Teamspeak that allows people to talk to each other with their microphones. |

i have heard of this...at my friends house. lots of WoW players use this to talk. damn WoW addicts
i do not know about this one though, might i point out our chat room is not given very much attention to having something like a ventrilo might also be on the quiet side.
but it is a major plus for those of us in the middle of trying to pick up japanese, as we could all come and look like fools while we practice. |

| I like vent because I don't have to constantly look at the window. I can just talk and listen. Plus it's nice to hear what people sound like. |

| OMG vent lets do it. but 30+ man servers are pretty expensive. i guess the cost wouldnt be a problem if members each chipped in a bit. but i dont really see a solid reason to commit to a vent for a forum community so iuno. people mostly get vents to game and stuff. |

| Servers aren't /that/ expensive. You can get decent fairly large servers for about 10 dollars a month. |

I have Teamspeak, but I've heard good stuff about Ventrilo. It'd be interesting, though my english is extremely awkward, and I'm kinda slow when talking

I can't implement Ventrilo (or Teamspeak for that matter) on our current server, it's not allowed due to the consistent process it requires to run. If someone has a connection with good upload speeds maybe he/she can run a Ventrilo server for us. I don't think purchasing a dedicated Ventrilo server is a good idea seeing not everyone will be using this service, and most commercial hosting limits the amount of users to only 5 or 10 for low end hosting. That's my 2 cents. |

| I think this is a cool idea, but not everyone will be able to use it. It would be cool if we could implement it into the chat system somehow, but otherwise it's pretty expensive to maintain, I would think. |

I originally used gamecomm(beta) as it had a free 10 slot server (tried to go to the site today but its out til Q3...) But it would be better if someone could host as their plans are quite expensive (seeing that not many people would use it at a time)
Don't Aim or Yahoo have voice chat functions which can hold a small number of people?

| yes indeed, i believe most messengers do have limited support. i think haru wants more though, since we still have channel-ai chat as opposed to messenger, so if we use that we might as well have vent as opposed to messenger? |
