So Steve Jobs announced the iPhone during his keynote speech today! A lot of information has surfaced since then and it has definitely stirred up a lot of excitement among Apple fans and iPod users, such as myself!
Here's a photo of iPhone just to let you drool over its elegance and prettiness:
Specs:
Screen: 3.5 in 320 by 480 at 160 ppi
Memory: 4GB, 8GB (not expandable)
Networks: GSM (850/900/1800/1900), GPRS/EDGE
Connectivity: Computer via Apple dock connector, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
Physical size: 4.5 × 2.4 × 0.46 in / 115 × 61 × 11.6 mm
Weight: 4.8 ounces /135 grams (same as 5.5G 30GB iPod)
iPhone comes with 2 different model, the 4GB and 8GB model. The price for 4GB and 8GB is $499 and $599 US dollar respectively. iPhone won't be available to the public until June 2007 in the US and Canada. For other countries, it will be either late 2007 or 2008. Cingular Wireless will be the exclusive network provider for iPhone in the US.
I have never gotten myself a mobile phone up till now and if I do decide to get one, it will definitely be iPhone. Just like iPod, I'm sure iPhone will revolutionize the way we use our cell phones.
You can find more information about iPhone at Wikipedia (isn't it fast?) You are also highly recommended to watch the Keynote presentation right here if you're an Apple fan.

hey i am the first to reply!!!!
well pretty much every electronic device i have is out of date and i am in no rush to buy up to date stuff cause it is costly and often unnecessary. *didn't look over the features but my current cell phone will do just fine for now anyway*
so i voted no. |

I usually hate all kind of phones. But I'm an Apple follower, and I liked pretty much all of iPhone's features. So, yeah, I'd go for it. Not two weeks after it's release, but yeah. I hope I can get one.

| Yeah, I read an article awhile ago talking about how jobs was going to change the word, again, today with his lecture. Apple's done it again; this thing looks amazing. I want to see what kind of effect it'll have on the mobile phone world. The iPod wasn't the first portable audio player but it quickly changed the way people listen to music; I really wouldn't be surprised if the iPhone caused a ripple in the mobile phone world. I give it the Jester seal of approval; very nice! I won't be getting it any time soon though because I just signed up for a three year plan with my chocolate and that's fine with me; I was never much of cell phone guy anyways. |

YES! I'm the thrid to reply.
Anyway, I heard about their secret plans to combine a mobile with mp3 player. My frist thought was that it would be SUPER expensive. So I was proven right. For that much, it should at least have more GB of space. 4-8GP I need a new cell phone, my silver razor sucks so much.
I'm not sure if I want to buy it though, I would need to save up so much to get it. My service is Cingular tho..... so that is a very good service. Wow, i can't believe they are making it strictly for Cingular. I bet this will have thousands of users switching over with Cingular just for this.
The touchscreen interface is so awesome, this will be my favorite feature I think. I only wish they would have it at 30GB or around that much.
Thanks for the news eyn |

| lol the official announcement for iphone was today right? my friend was freaking out over this.. either way it doesn't look that impressive. the multitouch and motion sensor features are pretty cool, but thats about it. OSX will be pretty incompatible, the applications can be found on any blackberry or pda like phone, and the battery life is going to be crap. moreover, it looks gross lol. im guessing any phone in japan or korea already beats this one out by alot. truth be told i really don't like apple products xP |

No expandable memory, and too big... For a size that big it would be better if it could do more but it has nothing special. Just a regular phone, tons of other phones have the same feature and smaller size + better looks. It's not even 3G. It just does what other phones does, a bit more fancy yes. I hope they expand the memory though, I mean, 8 GB can hardly fit anything, really.
Does it have A2DP bluetooth? Please tell me it does... Or else it's a true loser. >_>;
Apple's design kind of disappoint me this time. When ipods first came out I liked the design. Now they are just getting old. Was hoping this phone's design would wow me, but no. It looks simple and elegant but plain, looks just like any other gadget.
In the keynote, doesn't it say it's $499 and $599 with a 2 year contract? And it's got a big link with Cingular. >_>; |

oh, man.... new mobile phones. i'd be glad if i could afford that.
but then i don't think i'd get this. i don't like iPod or iTunes at all. both my brothers have it, and man... they end up in too much trouble with that. and i already got an iAUDIO X5L with 30 GB, so i don't need any fancy mobile phone that plays music.
not that it wouldn't be awesome to have one... |

It's such a gorgeous phone! However, I'm not a big cellphone user, so I won't be getting it. Service is too expensive for me, and in this case, so is the phone. I'll just silently be jealous of it. |

I spend well over hour and a half last night, watching the introduction video on the Apple site. I must say, I'm really impress at the way they presented it. The wide screen ipod part is very tempting. The other features is neat too, but I don't have the use for most of them (internet, email, sms, voice mail, etc.)
But the day I decide to get iPhone, will be the day when I can stand touchscreen and not being afraid to scratch its beautiful surface. |

| If I were to buy a high tech phone (I'm usually broke), i'd opt for the IPhone. I checked all the features and the idea is great. Having a phone that breaks the standard tiny button style is wonderful for people who dont like to small buttons. Also, the software support is incredible. |

The iPhone is just sad. Think, a screen you HAVE TO TOUCH! And leave so many fingerprints. It's got all the basic things a good phone has, wifi, video player, music player, etc.
BUT FOR $600??? C'mon! You can get a phone just as great for like $400 off...or maybe $300 of! Of course it won't have the slick design, but it won't break to every single drop it gets! |

| guys...iPhone is not a great phone at all...for a $600 piece of 1/2 metal 1/2 plastic, you cant even CHANGE your battery without having to pay Apple $70 for the thing PLUS $30 for iPhone rental. The technology is so old school...i mean...the iPod itself has 75% of market share domination, we don't need to see a iPod that can do a twist and turn on a screen. The 2mp camera is now standard since phones already have 5mp on it so....nothing special.... Wifi....ill let that pass....it has NO 3G so we can expect where this product won't sell very good (Japan...and theyre heading towards 4G). It will NOT revolutionize the way we use cellphones. Teachers wont start saying "please turn off all your iPhones" just like how they keep saying "please turn off all your iPods". Seriously...if it had a different name...maybe its not so bad....but..the name iPhone is ridiculous, its a phone...and they slap an "i" on every single thing they make. NO ONE likes this thing, EVEN the users themselves got a little fed up with a battery problem. This thing has one lawsuit that passed...and now customers are filing another lawsuit for the non-user changeable battery. |
