Tsk tsk. So lazy... Tongue Laughing

For all those talking about the sexual innuendos... You've gotta understand that sex and sexual things are regarded differently in Japanese culture, with many contradictions... There is much humor to be drawn from rather vulgar things, despite the repressive nature of other aspects of the society.
yukino said it well, how Ai's like, "Oh, my goodness! That's kind of naughty, isn't it? Giggle" through out.

But honestly, people. Pull your head out of the gutter for a minute. The first thing a dirty mind will obliterate/kill is child-like play. Most of what's in the PV could simply be described as being silly.

Take the naked guy in the bathroom (yes, rock on, indeed Nod Laughing ). Yes, he *is* naked. However, he's naked in probably the *one* place where it is perfectly acceptable, nay, *expected* for one to be naked. Yes, he's rockin' out. Who doesn't sing in the shower from time to time?
[Just a note: Someone inquired as to why he wasn't sudsing himself inside the tub. Traditional-style Japanese bathrooms have deep tubs for soaking only. Washing of hair and body happens outside of the tub using a hand-held/wall-attached shower head, typically while sitting on a plastic stool like he is.]

Ai looking in on him doesn't seem to be a peeping-tom type of situation so much as her being some kind of sprite observing people when they are alone. She seems more interested in how he's rockin' out, than the fact that he's naked. (That's just a bonus. Wink Tongue ) I think the PV as a whole (even if the song necessarily isn't) is about who people are when they are alone, i.e. when alone, people can be truly themselves and really enjoy life.

In the end, until the confirmed lyrics are released we won't know for sure about what all this craziness is supposed to mean...
Can't wait! Love

And yes, Jester, I got the similarities to birth with the striped-guy sequence... I was more wondering *why?* about the inclusion of the whole thing. Like, what is he supposed to represent...? Confused No

And I definitely think the man in the pink negligee in the washroom scene deserves all of our respect for being able to do Ai's cute dance in those *insane* heels. Shocked Giggle

Ok thanks zyzzyva! I finally understand now! Tongue At first I found the naked man very strange. Now I understand Japanese culture very well! Nod Although I found it very odd at first, I'll try to understand. Nod

Funny as. Really cute, and the sexual references just floor me!!

I really see another Sakuranbo in CHU-LIP. Both songs are so cute and hyper, both PV's are dominated by red, and both song titles are about red plants.

No, is not permenant. The bleach blond hair with the pink hat is just a wig.

It was funny.

It's good to see how her PV's can go from being serious and emotional like in 大好きだよ to something like this.

This is her funniest PV yet IMO.

And the song is awesome.

After looking at the lyrics/translation supplied by LNany and rui @ Jpopmusic.com in conjunction with the PV we have so far, I have come to a few conclusions regarding at least some of the silliness.
Included below is a merging of the lyrics and translation of the first verse and chorus (pretty much what's sung in the shortened PV--after the TV part, she just repeats the first chorus).

LNany & rui @ Jpopmusic.com wrote:
パパのような人に 惹かれてるような 後に気付く なぞ
i only realize after being attracted to someone like my dad... mystery
ママのような人に なっていってる気がする 年とればとるほど なぞ
i have a feeling I'm becoming like someone like my mum... mystery
恋してれば あなたのすべて All Right!!

理屈も理論もいらないわ Stand Up!!

Being attracted is the ultimate evidence
~ Ah-HA?… ~
チューリップの恋模様 チューすればするほど好きになる
Chu-Lip's love pattern the more i kiss you the more i love you
チューリップの恋模様 チューすれば気付く運命のお相手
Chu-lip's love pattern all i have to do is to kiss and i'll know my fated partner
[...]
なぞ 遺伝子…
mystery DNA...

For the song itself, Ai is singing about the struggle between the head and the heart when it comes to explaining why we fall for those we love.
She begins by referencing the age-old theory that we will absorb the tastes of our like-gendered parent and 'take after him/her' in looking (subconsciously) for a mate who is similar to the parent of the opposite sex (i.e. Ai is 'turning into' her mother and is becoming attracted to men who resemble her father in certain ways).
However, Ai is puzzled by the whole thing and simply doesn't want to think or care about the 'why' for she believes that the love she feels for another person is what's truly important. She doesn't need to examine the relationship and understand it--she just needs to kiss him and she'll know he's the one for her. Love

As for the PV, I believe it was intentionally made to be silly and nonsensical, so much of the details/approach are to be taken with a grain of salt. Plus, no complete analysis can be made at the moment seeing as we are still missing a large chunk of the PV... No

Yet I think at this point I can shed a little light on the energetic, spied-on characters...
Are you ready?
My theory is that these are actually meant to be the parental figures of Ai! Giggle
Everyone's favorite naked man is her father and the air-guitarist/aerobics fan in the next room is her mother (who appears to be the same actor in very bad drag). [I think the fact that she's discussing attraction and finding one's love accounts for how 'they' are younger than her actual parents would be right now...] I'm sure I'm not the only one who originally thought the second character was meant to be a man who liked wearing a leotard and lipstick in the privacy of his own home and not meant to represent a woman. However, in the context of the silly nature of the PV and the corresponding lyrics, I do believe the actor is meant to represent Ai's mother (the aerobics may in fact be clue, as televised fitness programs are stereotypically popular among house-wives).
Upon looking in on the bathing man, Ai sings the first line [see above] about her father and men like him. She then moves to the next window and immediately sings about how she feels she's becoming like her mother.
Note her semi-frightened/weirded-out/worried facial expression throughout both sequences. *Everyone* has embarrassing parents, to some degree. Embarassed Here, Ai is certainly giving us extreme examples. Laughing

To go even further, the next cut is to the infamous striped guy and the pink, um, hole. *ahem* Blank stare
I guess I just have to bite it and admit that he appears to be representative of a child that results from the union of two people. (Yes, the pink hole *is* that. I *told* you the Japanese have different/conflicting attitudes towards sex/sexual things!) The character is black and white because it is a blending of two sides (father and mother). The lack of persona and use of the question mark for its face show how we cannot know what a child/person to come will be like. This is part of the answer to the lyric「なぞ 遺伝子」('mystery DNA' or 'puzzingly genes') Ai repeats at the end. The lyric also goes back to Ai's confusion in the opening lyrics regarding the theories concerning her tendencies in taste.

Still not entirely sure of the intention behind sprite-like Ai and others who fly out of the flower. Perhaps this is to show they all ascribe to the 'Chu-Lip Philosophy'...? As in, they all believe that the love itself, not the 'why,' should be in the forefront and kissing helps one determine one's true feelings. You could even look at it as Ai's 'Heart-Spirit' being in 'her own little world' (in love)--confused when presented with theory instead of straight love, just floating around, happy, with little points of light going 'round her head (ones similar to the ones that surrounded the happy couple at the end of her Amaenbo PV...). Love

'Washroom Ai' seems to be more of 'Real Ai.' She sings the chorus (so far) which is basically the end product of her reasoning laid out in the verses. Taking place in the men's washroom could be reflective of the missing verse which mentions how her habits begin to resemble her partner's after living together for a while. Also, the whole song is about not over-analyzing love and relationships (a characteristically girly thing to do). In both ways, figuratively, she's becoming 'one of the guys.'
I definitely think this part will benefit the most when the full PV is made available. Nod

And for what's it's worth, I think the shot of Ai rolling around with the striped-sweater guys is meant to show Ai living in the moment and having fun. Of course that could just as soon mean sex, but it's not the only answer... Love

Wow, those are two really solid posts you've got there zyzzyva. In regard to that first post in this page, I totally agree, and that's supported by what I've been saying in my other posts about her being more like a fly on the wall then a pervert.

It's a smaller hint if it's a hint at all, but if I remember correctly there are womens' undergarments hanging outside. It's a given that they could easily belong to a woman in the house, but that's just a little observation. And on a far-off tangent, the air-guitarist is wearing a sweater with a tiger on it. The tiger has stripes on it but I still don't know what all these stripes represents?

I'm not to sure about this but my guess is that it has something to do with pollen, the substance that plants release into the air to allow reproduction. :s

Another reoccuring theme is the fudging of the line between the sexes. I mean you have the question mark man dancing, the cross-dresser in the change room, Ai-chin in the males' bathroom, and the seriously confused air-guitarist. That might have to do with how she feels like she's becoming more like both of her parents.

I'd like to add my own little note: I usually don't spend a lot of time analyzing videos probably because you can usually take them at face value, but this one's really caught my attention and I'm curious to see how the rest of the PV will give us pieces to our little puzzle we've put together. Grin

Thanks for your input, Jester! Love
I'm glad what I wrote is understandable/makes at least a bit sense. Embarassed Giggle

Nice eye regarding the ladies undergarments! I thought I had mentioned those--oops! Yes, they certainly help support things (bad pun--sorry! Embarassed Laughing ).
Also, very interesting point about the tiger sweater... Very subtle continuation of the stripe-metaphor. Nod

Yes! Excellent connection! What I wrote above had more to do with the characters themselves, but your pollen/reproduction point clears up the sequence's presence and design! Nod Boogie

Yes! Thank you for providing an over-arching theme to encompass my ramblings. This is what I was trying to get at regarding the missing section... Embarassed
The stripe-theme, I believe, is a visual signifier/metaphor for this merging/blending of the sexes. Not always specifically applicable to the wearer him/herself ( Tongue ), but just its recurrence indicates it is happening and is a part of the context of the song/PV.

In a way, I think 'fudging the line' is also about how love is love, no matter who you are. Now, in our current political climate, one could take that at face value to only apply to same-sex relationships being just as valid as heterosexual relationships, but I mean purely that men's idea of love and that of women are not two entirely different, separate things. We are taught to believe that men and women, in their different approaches and views, end up with two completes disparate ideas of love.
However, in reality, the core is still the same. Love

Here's to looking forward to the missing section! Wink

This PV isn't terrible, I guess, but it's not one of Ai's best. The wacky factor is still there with the guy bathing while singing and the dancing in the bathroom (which I admit is adorable) but what's with the cow poo in the beginning? XD Not something I want to see, especially so soon after dinner, haha. Surprised
