I'm sorry but that's absurd.
I'm pretty sure she means cleanups of members that have 0 posts. It's a good thing to do cleanups once in a while (if people have accounts but don't post 1 single post, they deserve to be deleted), especially with this situation. |

Yeah, I agree that 0 post members should be deleted.
But it was the word "suspicious" that bothered me.
That implied that anyone who acted "suspicious" should be deleted or banned.
Channel Ai has always been a friendly and welcoming community...
I just don't want to see the sort of totalitarian administration I've seen on some other forums.
I hope that this DMCA stuff isn't a turning point for Channel Ai.
I like things how they are.
I don't want to be part of a community where people are banned without good reason. |

Not gonna happen. Channel-Ai isn't born just yesterday and if something like that didn't happen before it won't happen in the future. Every person banned is banned for a good reason. When Ch-Ai first started, my dream is not to ban anyone and to be an amicable admin but eventually I realize that will only happen in the perfect world. Sometimes it's really hard to understand why they are so many morons out there, but unfortunately that's just the way it is.
I'm really disappointed every time someone said "I hope [insert absurd actions] will not happen". You should at least have some confident in me but apparently you think I'm going to do something nasty, do I really look that crazy to you? I mean, seriously.
One thing I would like to clear up is ch-ai is not "totalitarian administration", which I believe many people have that kind of thoughts, most likely due to the fact that I am the only admin of this site (compared to other community that have like 20 mods and 10 admins). There is no reason to have many people in charge with most of them don't really know what they are doing and have no knowledge to back up their actions. With that said, I'm still trying to find people who has the potential to administer different aspect of this site, it just takes time to discover talented, enthusiastic and dedicated members with good knowledge of administration tools.
I tried to make things as transparent as possible and you, as a member, have your say in most if not all decision making process. Take a look at past announcement to see if it is really the case. Then take a look at the suggestion section to see if I really take you guys opinion seriously. While other site has like 20 person in charge, they do not necessarily tell members what's going behind the scene but only the results. It's not the case here, so you should have 0 worries about something unexpected being implemented out of nowhere.
This DMCA will not be a turning point for Ch-ai, not in the sense of the forum atmosphere to say the least. The gallery might be gone, but nothing will affect the forum.
Anyway, I don't have the time to deal with the DMCA claim yet and I do believe this complaint might have came from a member with a grudge (nevertheless, this issue has to be taken seriously). The gallery will stay down indefinitely and "CHU-LIP" forum style most likely won't arrive anytime soon seeing I'm really busy with my school, also there's this DMCA thing that make it even harder for me to implement a new style.
Thanks for all the suggestion and I'll look into them when I have the time. And thanks for those who showed your supports. |

Cool.
I didn't mean that you were totalitarian.
I was actually pointing out the fact that you've been really lenient in the past and I don't want things to change.
Like I said... I like things how they are.
Some other forums have an "elite" group of members who become mods and admins and seperate themselves from the other members.
The fact that you're the only admin stops that from happening.
Maybe I worry too much.
Channel Ai will go on like it always has...
We probably shouldn't let this DMCA thing bother us. |

You know...
I never noticed how hard it is to be a forum admin...
Sometimes I forget about all the copyrights and those today...
Well, anyways good luck with the photos and copyrights, eyn!!
(And of course thanks for keeping this place together, btw... it's off-topic, but, how do you say your username? I know it must sound odd but I always wonder how people want their usernames pronounced, lol.) |

That really sucks. I was just going to post something in "Mumble" asking if anyone else was missing their banner. That's a real shame and I can't provide any help either because I've never had to handle this type of situation. I really don't want to have to say it but we might have to lose the gallery. Don't get me wrong I really like the gallery and those images are top-notch but I don't really think it's worth the risk of losing the forum, I'd be heart-broken!

DMCA again?! I've received complaints too!
what happened:
I have serveral videos up on YouTube that got removed due to DMCA complaints: Ai's renai shashin perf@47th record award. BoA's key of heart promotional video.
I received two complaints filed through YouTube; my videos were removed. Similar situation as yours, youtube warned me that if any more of my video has to be removed due to violation of copyright my account will be suspended.
However, I was not notified of whom notified them about this "violation of copyright".
I don't know if this kind of notice is reliable since it could even be a fraud of some sort. Because why the sudden the copyright issue is being inspected so tightly now?
----------------------------------------------------------------
crap, I just logged on to youtube, found out that my account has been banned permanently. ALL MY VIDEOS ARE GONE!!! |

It looks like then man has finally decided to clamp down on people's freedom online.
The internet is no longer the only place where you can truly be free.
We should just enjoy the time we have left before the internet becomes as commercialized and government-controlled as TV. |

A government-controlled net would be bad for more than just otaku.
For example, people's videos being removed from Youtube and the Channel Ai gallery closing.
The internet should not be controlled.
It should remain 100% unregulated.
I'm so sick of the government sticking it's big nose in where it's not wanted or needed.
We're already controlled enough in real life.
The internet used to be a place where we could say what we wanted and share things.
The man won't allow people to be free though...
Not even virtually. |

Deleting members that you're suspicious about?
That's the sort of thing that destroys online communities.
I think I know what you're referring to by "attacks"...
I've explained the circumstances behind that to eyn and there's no need for it to go any further.
More absurd than a whole community sufferring because of a stupid member who bears a grudge? After all those usernames are supposed to be inactive if they have no posts for a specified period and so they're not contributing to the forum. It's not about being elite but having a friendly community where no one takes advantage of this. And as eyn mentioned it's not like he's going to ban people for no reason - that would be totally stupid. Plus I'm only expressing my opinion here as everyone else. As far as I know it's not illegal.
But I think if your pictures are being taken down maybe you have a right to know if this person is really who he claims to be... |

Yeah, you do have a point.
I think I misunderstood exactly what you meant at first.
I personally don't think this person is legitimate either.
But we shouldn't be overly suspicious of other members. |

Yeah.
I've been looking around and the only "Nao Hirano" I can find is the Director of the International Academy of Sport.
http://www.aqi.com.au/staff.htm
He's the guy in the red shirt at the top.
That's all I can find so far though.
This has got to be fake. |
