Doraemon-related articles

Doraemon movie completion announcement
Doraemon achieved a smashing success last year. It exceeded the box office revenue of 3 billion. Thus a new movie was recorded and the completion announcement was celebrated by airing a preview of this movie at the international forum on Sun 18th February. It was crowded with many children and their parents.
The event started with the arrival of Doraemon appearing in the familiar animal suit. Voice actors and people related to this event appeared. Finally, there was a live performance held by mihimaru GT, who are currently rising in popularity and were assigned to work on the theme song. They completed the event with a cheerful note.
Comment from mihimaru GT:
hiroko: "Receiving this tie in has given us a lot of courage since many people will watch this movie. Our song is played in the ending of the movie, enjoy it and please see it!!"
miyake: "It is definately a movie which one shall be impressed and laugh. The audience will enjoy themselves."

Doraemon movie was extended. Public presentation for the release
March 10th, in Yuraku Cho the first stage greeting for the new Doraemon movie was done. When Doraemon appeared the place was filled with applause and cheers.
hiroko (vocals, lyrics)
"I was allowed to sing the theme song for this movie. I was very happy to get this chance to sing for Doraemon. It is a splendid movie and I also listened to the music with it. Thank you for your consideration."
mitsuyuki miyake (vocals, composer, lyrics)
"If mihimaru GT is compared to a number it would be 310 and can be read as mihimaru. Today it's March 10th. That's right. It was as if it was fate. Unkind treatment and lack of consideration have recently became a social problem. This song together with Doraemon is about expressing a little consideration about others, without forgetting being warm to people."

i dun understand y they couldn't get famous as the other artists do. Their songs are just superb. To be really honest to everyone, i listen to them more than i listen to Ai Otsuka recently.
what are these tracks about actually? どーなのよ? 最近 ~feat.古坂大魔王~ and 差し入れ feat.古坂大魔王?
古坂大魔王 is a person's name? Big devil? Those tracks sound like a talk show, with host asking questions and audiences laughing... |

They are pretty famous actually in Japan just not in the west. However they still like to remain true to their indie nature and so they still attend to small concerts and collaborate with other artists to create "indie concerts". Personally I feel a lot of tenderness towards these two musicians because their story relates a lot of hardships and difficulties. People disrespected their style and they relate how sometimes they literally performed in front of one person as their audience.
To get a tie in with a movie like Doraemon means you're reached a certain level of popularity and respect since Doraemon is a classic anime in Japan. Hitomi Shimatani received a tie-in with Doraemon back then in 2003 during her musical peak, sales wise [2002-2003]. It wasn't a big seller [55,000 copies] since Doraemon music is targetted towards young kids and few people are keen on buying kiddie music. Hitomi's "Yume Biyori" was similar to a child's nursery rhyme so you can imagine who bought this single apart from the obvious crazy fans who want to collect everything. Also she had a best album coming up containing this song.
On the other hand mihimaru's single is a ballad with little hip hop influence. A slow ballad rarely sells well unless it's a power ballad with loads of emotion (Planetarium, HEAVEN style) Their ballads usually aren't big sellers and I'm sure that the ones who heard it was targetted towards kids weren't crazy on purchasing this single. This explains why the sales are pretty low.
Though the sales from last week have risen to 42,359 copies and I'm sure sales will increase next week especially since their single popped up in the top 20 charts again. I'm suspecting it will reach 50k which is a pretty decent amount for a song targetted for kids. In comparison to Hitomi's single and taking into account all factors I think it will be a decent amount. We all know sales have collapsed since 2003.
Last but not least esm at JPM has posted some exciting news. There's a rumour that they shall release an album on the 2nd May. They also have a second tour coming up this year. Shows they finally developed a nice fanbase and I'm glad for them.
I think the song you're talking about is "doo nanoyo! saikin ~feat. furusaka daimaou~" and I guess it was extracted from a talk show. |

saw that? i used a past tense.
Bcoz from what i could see from their sales last time, i tot that they are not that popular like the others. But anyway since they got to sing the theme for doraemon already showed their achievement.
Any idea what are those talk shows about?? |

Ooops sorry about that. I suppose it was their "hip pop" genre was rather new and back then "hip hop" wasn't popular either. For this reason their music wasn't appreciated and they weren't respected. (Japanese tend to be slower to accept new things) Ai worked on the pop genre (which back then was huge) and so she was luckier. Their record label didn't promote them much either because they didn't have any confidence that they would sell.
Now urban music is developing a steady interest but the online sales are slumping the physical ones. In any way although they are still not an ultra-popular duo their music is growing to be respected and probably will keep on receiving tie-ins and extra promotion in the future.
The talk show is probably some radio interview. I've got no idea since my Japanese is very very limited. Probably they added it as fan-service or as a filler. |

I got their stuffs thanks to eyn and Rinoa from the off-topic area. At first I didn't like their music much but now it absorbs me. I can say now that I enjoy their music much.
I'm excited to know about Hiroko's singing for Doraemon. Love Doraemon! XD Thanks for the info, Rinoa.
Hope their Best album sell well too.
@depressant
To tell the truth now I listen to their songs more often than Ai-chin's too. |

Ha, mihimaru GT is very addicting for sure, their song is fun and energetic and makes you feels good in the morning or while working on something boring.
I uploaded their first live DVD to jpopsuki tracker, grab it if you like their music (buy it if you want to support them!) because the live is very fun and the behind-the-scene feature is priceless! A very well worth DVD in my opinion. |

Now I can't get the 'Hey DJ come on say Yay Yay Yay' out of my head. XD
Mihimaru GT is absorbing me. But to be honest I used to be 'absorbed' by other srtists like, say, Koda or Mika Nakashima. Koda didn't last long for me though I like her songs from the first time I listened to them (without seeing the promo pics haha). Dunno why but I became bored with her. I still love her voice and songs, I just don't listen to them much. Mysterious?
For Mihimaru GT the tendency is positive. They have some variety and originality in their songs. Never saw their PVs but would try when I have the chance. Yeah, eyn, I saw your torrent in Jpopsuki but due to my internet limit for this month I have to give up. Maybe I'll buy it in summer....if they'll still be absorbing me then. Ha!
The fact is I'm addicted to School Rumble and downloading them like crazy.
OMG my limit... T_T |

Congratulation for their #1 rank in Oricon!
I guess they are really a hit in Japan though outside the country all about them seem to be a bit quiet. ???
And I'm addicted to their music until now. I like to begin the day in the morning with their music too. |

| It's weird how few westerners like mihimaru GT. I believe they are so underrated around various English-speaking forums. |

| i suspect that mihimaru GT's songs are pre-blended with opium or morphine. I spread the sickness to one of my fren and the symptoms appeared to her is similar to mine. Ppl who i will spread the sickness on is getting more and more... And i will always do. |
