I can't wait for Revenant Wings and Crystal Bearers. I love my DS, it was the best present ever.

Still playing FFXII because I'm playing it with my bf and only see him at weekends. So much fun tho. Like a cross between FFXI and Vagrant Story, with good bits from FFX
Was at the UK launch also, that was great

The FFXIII games look great Giggle looking forward to those and the release of the PS3
x x x

I liked FFIII on the DS. The revamp looked great and the sound was better. I didn't like the latter dungeons since you couldn't save. So basically you had to sit through 2 and half hours (give or take) of gameplay to finish the damn game when it's suppose to be a PORTABLE game!!!

I just bought this game and I'm totally hooked on it. Final Fantasy Tactics was my all-time favourite and this one seems to share some little things in common. I'm a huge fan of jobs and different costumes for each. I hear you on that lack of saving in dungeons thing. I actually had a lot of trouble fighting the dragon in the fire dungeon; I don't level up at all and the lava hurt me so much. Anyways, one quick question to anyone who's played the game and if your just starting out like me you might not want to read on because it could be tad spoilery. Okay, so do you unlock new jobs by acquiring more crystals? Or was it just a fluke that I unlocked some new jobs when I beat Salamander?

^Yay, someone else whom actually digs the game besides me. I have many other co-workers whom are pretty hardcore gamers. One hates to level/grind (whatever you choose to call it) so when he and I swapped DS games (I played his copy of Portrait of Ruin since I hadn't gotten my copy yet and he wanted to try FFIII since he wasn't sure he wanted to buy it). He sat there and complained the whole entire time.

The game gets really hard to play if you don't level. Trust me. Um if you don't want to be spoiled I guess don't read the rest of this paragraph and skip to the next one where I answer your question. Anyways, there's a dungeon which you have to go through in order to get an airship. You absolutely have to have that airship to continue the story and progress in the game. But that dungeon can be ridiculously hard if you're not at a decent level. Why? Because the enemies in that dungeon have to ability to multiply and divide in battle. Basically if you kill a certain enemy with a sword-like weapon (I think, I can have a horrible memory) it'll split it. So you cal originally go into a random battle where there's two enemies. If you kill one with a sword it'll split it self, so then you have three to kill. I'm a level whore when it comes to FF games so I was well prepared to deal with that. But what I did was go and level up in that dungeon and walked in and out of it to heal before I actually walked through the whole dungeon in one sitting. There's this green dragon in there that looks exactly like Salamander but green XD He's gives you good experience points so I was able to level real quick with him.

BUT to answer your question. Yes you will unlock more jobs as you kill more major bosses to get to the crystals. Like most earlier FF games, it's the same four elemental crystals. If you want to know what specific jobs get unlocked with what crystal, gameFAQ can answer that right away. Or if you want, I can look up on my file (but I'll have to figure out where I put my FFIII). I can tell you off the top of my head, that when you unlock the water crystal you get great jobs like Dragoon and Dark Knight. The last crystal will get you good stuff too, but I can only remember the Ninja at the moment.

And a good thing to know about FFIII if you haven't figured it out already. Press "A" where ever you go because there's a lot of hidden stuff all over the place. And hidden passages that go off the area and send you into blackness. It's pretty crazy.

On a different note.

OMG I love FFVI Advance. I just killed Gigantuar. The 1000 neddle spam attacks are very evil. Thank goodness for Reraise.

I can't wait for FFXII: RW either. With the GDC going on there's so much gaming news. but yea, trailer 4 and 5 for the game is out on GameTrailers and I like what I see, though it does seem a bit chaotic. It'll be out by the end of April, so I'll see what the reviewers say. I'll probably get it regardless, since it's FF.

Um, Final Fantasy Smile I havenīt known anything about it until the day I searched Youtube for some game videos and there was a movie about FF series. I decided to download the PC version of FF VII. After a week of playing I felt in love with the game and after finishing it, I wanted to try the next one. I tried all games from VII to XII and actually these two and VIII are my favorite.
VII has a wonderful story and great character cast. I havenīt found any single boring moment in the story, maybe except the stair-running in Shin-Ra base where Aeris was jailed. However also this situation was quite funny. For me, this is the materialization of a gaming perfection. Tongue Tifa was the greatest character in this game Smile 9,9/10
VIII. What can I say about that one. The design of this game is really adorable. Soundtrack is absolutely perfect, same as in VII. The story-line is without a single mistake. Materialization of a gaming perfection. 9,7/10
IX. It was cool, but I didnīt like it so much. Donīt know why, maybe because the story was not so good as in VIII or so. However the chars were great Smile Especially Vivi and Garnet Smile 8,8/10
X. Yuna, Rikku etc. Perfect char cast. If the main story-line was greater, not so linear, it would be definitely one of the best. 8,9/10
XII. Currently playing. Canīt judge this one optimally, so Iīll do it from what I feel now about it. I donīt know, where Square Enix take such a great stories and characters. Penelo, Basch, music, designs, graphics, itīs all perfect. I only hope the XIII will be at least as good as this one. Canīt wait for it to come Smile 9,9/10
I adore FF and I always will. I think it can be interesting to cast a girl as a main character in XIII. Donīt know if Iīm right, but wasnīt there some plans to make a remake of VII? I hope thatīs right, because it should be awesome to see Tifa in action again Tongue

Yeah, I just figured that out myself. The bosses and temples are getting way to hard for me to handle at my current level so I think I'm going to have to level up for awhile. I usually try to play games without buffering my stats but after fighting Geruda seven times, along with the long story in between, I decided it was time to walk in the forests for awhile.

This game is really addictive though! I'm hoping to get it finished before my exams because I could see it being disastrous if it's not done. What's the changes of me getting this game beaten my mid April if I'm at the Temple of Time?

Oh, and when people talk about Final Fantasy now I feel like such an old man gamer because everyone else seems to just talk about VII and after, while I talk about anything before. Does anyone else feel like that?

That might be true, I wanted to try these before VII but I either couldnīt get to console versions or havenīt got a working emulator. Maybe I should try to any some to play it. Itīs worth playing, isnīt it? However Iīll have to postpone it, because Iīve got a lot of work now, donīt have much time for playing, not evet for finishing XII.. Mad

Naw, don;t feel old or maybe I just happen to hang out with gamers more my age. I love the classic FF games (namely Final Fantasy VI and I actually like Final Fantasy IV too).

Anyways, you're at the Temple of Time? I'm assuming you're in the process of getting the lute to wake up someone ... er can't remember if you're told already 'coz I'm afraid to spoil the story.

Hmm... well a whole bunch of stuff happens after and the game gets more addicting. I think it was just past half way point (Goldor's Manson was more the halfway point for me) for me at the time. It took me another week and a half to finish it (it took me just less than a month to finish the game) BUT it was because I never bother to have a Thief in my party. Make sure you level your Thief. Because if you go wake up ____ you should go to the Saronia Catacombs. You will find Odin there. If you have a Thief in you party and he's/she's at lvl 99 (the job level) you're VERY likely to steal a Gungir Spear (it took me only one try). But I hear you could possibly steal it at lvl 70-72. I tried that and got a damn Elixir. I wasn't gonna waste my time doing hours of leveling just to get another Elixir so I leveled till I was at 99 (job level). Basically the Gungir Spear is the ULTIMATE weapon for whomever is a Dragoon in your party. 9999 attack power provided your Dragoon is at a decent level (not the job level but the actual level). Comes in handy when in you in the latter dungeons.

I dunno if you can finish this before mid April especially if you have exams to prepare for. I played it when it came out ... November and it was the off season for me so I had plenty of time play FFIII at work due to the down time.

Hmm, it's not impossible but I can see it really cutting into your study time. Plus the final dungeons blows. They're fun and really challenging but like there's no save points and you're pretty much stuck in the dungeon. When you're ready to fight the final boss, be prepared to be sitting and playing 2-2.5hours straight just to get to the VERY final boss (or be able to have your DS on sleep mode).

I just got my FFXII copy and I'm really addicted to it. I have abit of trouble with the battle system and the gambits, they take time to understand. I had to start another game again because I didn't have enough potions or phoenixes. Oh well, I like the story, the furthest I've reached is that prison where the Imperials get you and you're with Vossler. Confused

I only like Final Fantasy 8 thru 10...the most recent ones aren't that good in my oppinion. I do use to love it when the Squaresoft team was incharge...not that Square Enix team took over, it's not the same......

I love FF, the only two I don't care for is. FFVII and FFVIII.

FFVII is overrated and being milked to death, they ruined FFVII IMO, it's far form the best JRPG or the best FF.

FFT, FFIX, FFIV, FFVI, FFXII, FFV >all Tongue

Well... I donīt thing so, I thing that the story was awesome as well as the characters, but it depends on everyoneīs tastes. But I agree that itīs not the best JRPG and maybe not the best FF (maybe the 8th was).

I really liked ff X. The story wasn't the best, but i liked the battle system and level up system as well. I invested about 170 hours into that game the first time i beat it, and about 100 hours the second time i beat it.
