It's wierd, people's fav ones surprise me!
Personally, it's VIII & X that do it for me.
Selphie is THE best character ever created!
I've almost finished XII, just tidying up some side-quests and esper missions.
But, i have to say, it's definitely lacking in some areas. There just aren't enough scenes or character interaction. Anyone else notice that? I miss the turn-based battle system...
Y'think it's gonna stay like that? |

Hum I donīt think that there were a lack of interaction scenes I think that the game is stuffed with talks (maybe itīs a little bit less that in the other episodes, but still). But if we talk about the communication, I wish that FFīs going to be dubbed sometime, it would really increase the experience from the playing.
And to the battle system, it looks like Square Enix wanted to make the game more dynamic and increase the action. It works quite well in my opinion.
Canīt wait for the 13th episode. |

Yeah I stated that also earlier in the thread, to me it seemed there were more scenes involving Ashe, Penelo & Vayne, Balthier had a bit at the start and a little at the end, while I really didn't get to see much of the others especially Basch. |

I'm also currently playing FF XII...I've almost finished the story and I think I could do it in 2 hours or so, if I would continue playing the story to the end, but right now I'm concentrating on side-missions, mobs and optional espers...there's really a lot you can do...that's quite cool, I think
but...like Heisei, Mojo Pin and others stated...there's really a lack of character interaction...I miss how you get to know the real feelings of each characters...and how every character develops throughout the game and gets his own little story...I liked that so much in like FF IX or X...there wasn't only a connection between the characters in the game but als I had a connection to these chars...and now, in FF XII, this special connection is missing...
it's making me quite sad that it's like that...I just hope that it will be better again in FF XIII |

I'm glad people see where i'm coming from!
There was just this one part, where i'd spent ages fighting through an area, i think it was before the Phon Coast, and when we finally entered the coast.... Nothing!
We just had to continue!
Remember the scene when the party first enter the Calm Lands in FFX?
There was a big talk and Yuna lay down!
Anything like that in FFXII? Nope.
And maybe it's just me, but i HATE collecting loot. HATE IT!!
Anyone know just how hard it is to get the Tournesol? *Growls*
Haha...after all that, i still enjoy the game. |

The greatest FF games were FFVII and FFIX. For me, there is nothing good about FFXII except the battle system. The story was the worst I've ever played. It almost pained me to play it. Seriously, until the very end of FFXII, I would say that FFIV had a better story than that game. As for FFVIII, that was a great game as well, and has my vote for the best ending ever. Which is weird, because I say that FFVII has the worst ending ever...since it leaves you hanging (unless you watch the movie, which is completely awesome). FFX was a good game. The story was good, the characters were pretty good as well, and the battle system was great. But the ending just sucked so badly. I mean, zombie hit the final boss, then throw an elixir or phoenix down and he's dead. Wow, what a powerful boss. I think that FFIV has the hardest final boss. He has devastating attacks, and I was only able to finally beat him once I hit the level 70's for all my characters. That dude was hard.
The reason I like FFVII so much is because the story is excellent. The swearing gets really annoying after a while, but on the whole, it has the best story out there. And it was the first 3D FF game out. That's not why it's my fav., it's just another cool thing about the game. The characters were extremely well developed too. Except for Yuffie, you really get to explore the pasts of pretty much every character if not every character. Even Cid, you get to see what he was working on and what happened to him. Heck, even Zack has a part in the game that really shows a lot about Cloud's history.
And on the flip side of that, you have FFXII, which has no character build-up, no storyline (a good one, anyways), and no real characters that mean anything. I mean, who the heck is Van? An orphan that is....oh wait, there's nothing special about him. It's not like Zidane who has an interesting and meaningful past, nor Squall who has this awesome gunblade who ALSO has an awesome past. Van is just a nobody...and he's the freaking main character. The only person that really means anything is the princess...and she doesn't seem to do all that much either. And it's like you guys have been saying, there is no connection between us and the characters, or between characters in the game to other characters in the game. In FFXII, they just all seem to walk around and do their own thing. And the voice acting didn't help one bit. In FFX, they had awesome voice acting. They really grabbed that bull by the horns...they took full advantage of their new option....voice acting. And it was great in FFX. The voices truly fit their characters. But in FFXII, it was all monotone and boring. I felt as though I could fall asleep listening to that bunny girl (wow, I hate it so much I forgot her name) just talk and talk and talk...and.....'snore.'
Honestly, I'd rather play FFII (the Japanese version with a TON of dungeons) and say that I beat it, than go through FFXII one more time. Even FFX-2 had a better storyline than FFXII (no offense to anyone who likes that game...just not a favorite of mine). I really hope that FFXIII offers some story, and some good characters. I'm really not interested in graphics as I am in story. No story, crappy game. That's why FF 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 were such good games. And even FF 4 and 10-2 weren't all that bad. But FF XII just slaps a bad picture on Square Enix's face. But that's just for me and my opinion. I may not like it, but others do, and I respect their opinions and their thoughts. And if I offend anyone, I'm very sorry. But Square Enix needs to pick up the pace. |

I'm a fan of FF too! XD I started out playing FFX up to the present since we didn't have PS1 back then. x_x I love FFX better than X-2. XP I haven't finished XII yet cuz I haven't got a chance. My brother took our PS2 away. So... I tried playing out FFIII. XD |

I played FInal Fantasy 9 before...apparently it was nowhere near the best FF ever but i was still so addicted!! The gameplay, although repetitive, just wouldnt let me go! I killed so many hours playing that game...so many fond memories...I wanted to play Final Fantasy X-2 but I didnt have a PS2
The movie Final Fantasy Advent Children was awesome though! I hope they make a Final Fantasy VII-2 or somethin for PS3! |

even though there has been rumors about a remake of FF VII for PS3 there won't come any (at least they have denied it for a long time, but they could change their mind). they showed a remake of the intro of FF VII with PS3 graphics at E3 2005, but that's all that's been made. anyway, i guess you might have heard about the Compilation of FF VII project? you named AC, but there's more:
- Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII (mobile)
- Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII (PS2)
- Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (PSP)
- Last Order: Final Fantasy VII (anime OVA)
nothing for PS3 though. i guess we'll have to settle for the FF XIII games. and possibly Kingdom Hearts 3, but there's no word on that front. not that i've heard at least. |

| This might interest you. Maybe it's just more of the rumours that we're all used to by now but maybe it's something else. Hopefully, it's the later because, as much as a game doesn't solely depend on graphics, it's the graphics of VII that prevents me from getting through it now. |

HUGE fan here, played and loved every FF since 7, although I've noticed that each one features progressively less clothing (X-2, or XIII anyone ) |

I still like it. I was able to play X-2 again! It's been like 6 months since I haven't played it and I forgot how to defeat Angra Mainyu. Anyone help carlito out? |

| Oh my! My all-time favourite game, Final Fantasy Tactics, is being remade for the PSP. It's not just a direct port either! There's voice overs, wicked cell-shaded cut scenes, extra scenes, entirely new dialog, two new characters, two new job classes, a handful of name changes, and even multiplayer! I've never been this excited for a game before! It's going to be crazy! Anyone else looking forward to Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of The Lions as much as me? Now all I have to do is buy a PSP... |
