With the seventh and final book arriving in just three days or so, I felt it was appropriate to start a thread for it. I saw two other threads about Harry Potter but they weren't specifically about the seventh book so I hope that this isn't considered a duplicate topic. My apologies, eyn, if it is!
So the purpose of this thread is to discuss the final Harry Potter book, speculating before it comes out, discussing afterwards. When discussing, I have a feeling that it might be inevitable that someone might post a spoiler. If so, please give a clear warning before the spoiler that way people who have yet to read the book will still be pleasantly (or unpleasantly) surprised.
To start off this topic, I'd like to know two things. First of all, your feelings towards this book. I've been a fan of Harry Potter since the summer before first grade. The Philosopher's Stone was honestly the first real chapter book I ever read and I loved it, although I had stopped reading it for a month after I finished the chapter about Halloween and the troll. Anyway, it's been about five years since then and I have very mixed feelings. It's saddening that one of my favorite contemporary stories is coming to an end but I also feel happy that J.K Rowling is finally wrapping up this story and will be able to move on to something else in her life, although I doubt that she will ever be known as something other than the author of the Harry Potter books.
Secondly, J.K Rowling has mentioned that two main characters will die in this book. Who do you think it is, and why? Currently I have millions of possibilities running through my mind and not many seem to stand out above the rest. |

Me too!
I love the way the books have been written, the characters and the whole magical world thing, and its a little sad to imagine its all going to end with this last book, about three or four days from now...
I don't know about spoilers, but it should be safe to assume that both Voldmorte (sp) AND Harry will be killed most definitly. Rowling herself told us about Harry's death, but surely the main villain can't be kept alive?
Maybe Snape? He's been double-crossing both sides, so I can't imagine him being let off lightly.
But to be honest, I'd rather not discuss this last book much... just savour the surprises for the seventh and final time.
Let's just enter the arena with our heads held up high, ready to face the inevitable, with a smile if possible

I preordered this book on Amazon.ca, they give you a 5 dollar coupon as part of the promotion, quite a nice deal IMO.
I love reading the book but I have no idea who will die in the last book. I just don't have the imagination to guess who will die and what will happen, I'll just let the author do all the storytelling and enjoy whatever she has prepared for us!
Honestly, I find it too hard to get into J.K.Rowling's mind, which is why I enjoy the twist in each of the book so much. If I had seen all those coming, those twists would have less of an impact and the book would appeal less to me, which isn't the case obviously!
J.K.Rowling has wonderful imagination and all those years she has spent planning the story and lay out everything before she even started writing the first book has definitely proved to be extremely rewarding. |

10 hours to go!
My friend downloaded it online and finished reading it last night. She didn't spoil it but she told me her reaction to it, and that enough counts as a spoiler for me because I can't help wondering what events in the book provoked her reaction. |

She downloaded it? Then there's a chance it's a fanfic or something, right? I have to wait until the 24th until I get to read it. I'm buying another book along with Deathly Hallows on Amazon, and that's when the books are arriving. -sigh- Unfortunately, my cousin is staying over for a week and is getting the book tonight. I'm sad to say that he's a bit of a brat and I bet he'd spoil it all for me. Maybe I should go stay at someone else's house until the 24th... |

It's an amazing book, it really is. And it's quite a shock who dies.. i'm not gonna spoil it though!
It was a very sad story... i got really emotional at one point! Although it's just a book.

| I own all the books up until the final one, but I don't plan on reading the conclusion since I lost interest after the 5th book. The latter of the series just didn't satisfy me like the first book did. |

I got my 7th book today but I haven't started to read it yet. I'm not a huge fanboy and I need to recap what has happened in the 6th book before I can continue reading the last one. |

We queued up at midnight on Friday 20th for my wife to buy it (I don't read books much ) but she didn't get to start it until Sunday morning.
Sunday afternoon (she read it in about 4 hours ) I got a SMS saying "Really good!... end was a bit naff though"
No doubt I'll wait for the film, by which time Daniel Radcliffe will be about 52 |

SPOIL WARNING for who didn't read book 6!
I have to admit that I became hopeless after "you know who" of good side died.
I was really angry with JK Row. and realized how much power this woman has.
She has the power to bring hapinnes to many kids around the world and if she likes the Dark side, she can bring tears....and sadness to all Harry's fans.
I hope she hasn't killed Hermione or Rony, or Cho, or Gina, or Weasley twins, or Hagrid.
I know this is a child mind to want "You know who" to die without taking any heroe together... but she can conduct the story in a way that Voldemort is not evil in the end. I would do it this way. |

| Just finished reading Deathly Hallows. It was such a page-turner, I had no idea what was going to happen next. At one point towards the end, I nearly fell out of my chair from the shock. Ms. Rowling clearly had the final book laid out; everyone's actions had a lot of backstory. The ending was satisfying, although I was expecting something...well, I won't say what I was expecting. I hope they do a good film adaptation of this book, I really think it deserves something fantastic. |
