that's easy = anime Meow being a huge shoujo anime/manga fan in the past , it's easy to get addicted to japanese songs because I love the language (: I used to listen strictly on anime themed music only , then expanded to jpop world when I downloaded my first drama , Hana Yori Dango . found about Otsuka through there too ! <33

I got into J-Pop music the same way alot of people did through anime. I don't watch anime anymore but I'm still very into J-Pop and J-Rock. Through a round about way anime also got me into J-Dramas which I watch all the time.

well, i always had the influence from anime but was never a big fan... however coincidentally as it is it was Ai Otsuka that got me into the japanese industry...

i was running though some things on YOUTUBE and came across one of her vids and i just decided to watch it! I'm so happy i did cause now Otsuka is my intro to JPOP. My first vid of hers was Daisuki Dayo... my fav of all at that time was NEKO NO FUUSEN! I believe she had just released the single at that time.... and i loved it and her... and ever since! Big hugs for OTSUKA AI!

Loves... MWAAAAAH!

I guess I got into Jpop thanks to Youtube, some anime and mostly all because of my friends, they let me listen to their iPod which was full of Jpop, I loved the songs and it started off from there. Giggle

The first Japanese song I heared was Koda Kumi- 1000 no kotoba,
it was an accident, I actually was searching for A thousand words.
I wanted to listen to more Japanese songs and the names Hamasaki Ayumi and BoA popped up,
Ayumi has become my #1 xD
Now I know a lot of Japanese artists, I listen to them because they can handle more than the American artists, American artist only make one music genres and if it are two it are R&B and Hiphop...
Ayu can go from pop to rock to techno and back to pop again ^^

I think I'm with a lot of people here. I too was a former anime junkie (in my middle school days). Now I'm in college and don't touch the stuff (nor do I have time) but I love Japanese music. It's why I'm learning the language and hopefully studying there (or Korea) for a year.

I had a family member buy one of Utada Hikaru's CD's so that was the first J-pop artist I ever listened to. I wasn't really into her music at the time, not being such a fan of music in a language I could barely understand.
Afterwards I heard Kinki Kids D Album. It was quite fascinating, more fun and light hearted music I could enjoy as a child.
However, I really got into J-pop when I watched Inuyasha. The opening and ending themes were amazing (or most of them were anyway) and that was basically where myJ-pop addiction really started. Gradually my exposure to J-pop began to expand from running into other artists that sang theme songs to dramas, movies etc and it's basically what I listen to most of the time now.
I know if I watched any other anime other than Inuyasha, I wouldn't really have fallen into the J-pop genre as the music they use for their opening and ending themes have not attracted me at all eg Bleach, Evangelion despite being amazing anime in themselves.

I first listen to J-pop when i first watch anime. I was amazed by the way they present their story. The first j-pop song that i listened to is Ai-chin's kingyo hanabi and i fell in love with her music since then.

I remember my friend introducing me to it, I was like, not a fan of it. Laughing But after randomly exploring Youtube, I found some really good songs, the first song I actually listened to was Frienger by Ai Otsuka. That became my all-time favourite until I found more and more songs. But it's strange, my friend sort of likes it now when I truly like it. Laughing Nothing much has changed, but I like it that way. Wink
