I'm thinking about getting a laptop soon (all the better to watch Ai-chin's videos late in the middle of the night ) and I need some help deciding which one I should get! So could you guys help me by sharing with me which laptops you are using and whether they are worth it? Would really appreciate your help. |

well, i'm sitting with my laptop right now, but i have to say i'm not used to laptops, nor am i sure if this one is awesomely good or just plain bad. well, at least i've been happy with it. it's a HP Pavillion dv4000. the design is really neat and i like that all the in/outputs are on the side of the comp. i got it for 4,800 SEK (~680 USD), which is a pretty good price imo. it hasn't lagged or anything like that yet, but i haven't tried stuff that eats a lot from the CPU yet (i haven't even played a single game on it yet!). azureus was a bit slow, though.
i'm happy with my choice, anyway. |

Well, I'm typing on a Dell Inspiron 6000 and it was a really good laptop until I spilled chocolate milk all over it and foolishly acquired a virus. Other then that it was pretty good but I didn't really use it for anything reallying heavy duty; pretty much just surfing the web and typing up word documents and putting together the odd project using other programs. If watching Ai videos in the middle of the night is the main purpose of the laptop I don't see why this would be a bad choice since it's just a bit over $1000. Not entirely off tangent, but I'm hopefully going to be acquiring a tablet soon so I could use it for some serious note taking an other fun stuff like that. |

If I were to buy a new laptop I will pick Mac instead of a PC (I already had a PC laptop and my desktop just beats it hands down i.e. PC laptop is pretty useless for me). Anyway, part of my reason might be that I've been longed to play with MacOS and having a Mac means I can debug website in a different environment. Also, lots of good web editing tools are available solely on the Mac, such as TextMate. Even though I have no experience with a Mac laptop, I know that the design is not only good (e.g. Magnetic power cord) but it looks extremely stylish as well. I'm assuming you're not a gamer so switching to Mac shouldn't be a huge problem. It's also a good chance to get familiar with a new OS and the Unix system MacOS is build upon.
MacBook might be a little expensive though compared to PC laptop with similar specs, though I believe the good design of MacBook will make up for it. Here's a pretty good review detailing the pro and cons of MacBook: CNET review.
And here's a good site that tells you if you should buy an Apple product now or not: Mac Buyer's Guide. From the site, they state "Buy only if you need it - Approaching the end of a cycle" for MacBook. |

I feel so lonely. You're all using laptops when I'm on a computer. Well yeah, laptops are cool! My dad has a really cool one, which he got for free because his older one was stolen. That's rewards you get for working hard as a service manager! |

I'm probably too late but oh well... I use the HP dv6000, very good laptop, its got everything to make your videos more enjoyable, great sound and display. Lighter, compared to my previous Dell Inspiron 6000.
But there are many more out there that are just as good or even better. Best thing is to take your time and look around before you buy. |
