You can register a nick by typing /Nickserv REGISTER password email.

Obviously you should replace "password" and "email" with your chosen password and email address.

Also, when you join the IRC channel you guys should probably idle for a while longer.

Otherwise it will just be the same as the old chat with people coming in, saying "hi" and then leaving.

If a few people idle in the channel then we can eventually get some actual conversations going on in there.
