^ Maybe your display resolutions are large enough such that your images aren't actually resized at all? I dunno if the Channel-Ai forum size remains the same with every display though...but if it doesn't, then that would probably explain it ><
I dunno, cos the larger the display resolution is, perhaps the extra space is just filled in with more background tiles....

Aha! You might have just solved the mystery. I do have a widescreen laptop but I decided that I'd just size it down so it wouldn't resize on me.
