No particular genre preferred really, but I like films like:
Easy rider, Apocalypse now, green mile, shawshank redemption, ghost in the shell, reservoir dogs, elephant man, Memories of Murder, El laberinto del fauno, el espinazo del diablo, one flew over the cuckoo's nest, a tale of two sisters, blade runner, memoirs of a geisha, plus any stanley kubrick/tarantino/scorsese/ films
Also Wong Kar-wai is an amazing director/writer!!!!
So is Tokyo Friends any good? (the film). I am thinking about getting it, but I'm not sure which to buy - The series or the film???

I've always been a fan of Adam Sandler's movies or if Terry Crews is in the movie. They're like my favourite actors of all time. Comedy is my type of movie, not a fan of scary movies though.
I haven't watched Tokyo Friends yet, I need suggestions, as a 14 year old, do you think I should watch it? |

@Tdclarke and carlito
The series is pretty interesting, and I enjoyed it a lot. It isn't something that makes you go into a metacognitive state, but the relationships between the characters makes the series very dynamic and fun. Plus, Ai-chin does an awesome job as Rei. She's really cute. Tokyo Friends (the Movie) is pretty much a continuation of the series, so I recommend that you go with the series first.
I don't think there's an official English-subbed DVD yet, so if you're not proficient with Japanese (like me) then there's a fantastic fansub that you can find on Veoh HERE. Click on SendaiNewStyle's videos and go to page three to find the first part of the first episode. And as for the age it's appropriate for, there's mentions of sexual encounters, a shot of a nude guy from the waist up. So you can be the judge of that.
Hope I helped a little bit! |

WOW thanks a lot octocoffee, I didn't think subtitled versions of the series existed! I too am pretty bad at Japanese (I can read certain Japanese text, etc, but that's about it), but this will be much easier to follow then watching it and using character facial expressions, etc to tell what is happening :-)
I will get watching right away!
As for the film, I too heard it was almost a sequel to the series, and after much searching I found it at a reasonable $20 (~£10) here, I might buy it after I watch the series
Thanks again

Thank you octocoffee! Once my download limit is reloaded, I'll watch it for sure. I really hate saying the same thing over and over. |

Just watched Donnie Darko awhile back. That movie was right up my alley. It's kind of a psychological thriller but there's just the tiniest touch of suspense and horror that makes it perfect and gets you skin tingling. A new favourite of mine in an interesting genre.
My taste in movies is kind of all over the place. I can try to justify myself or I can just dump a list of my favourites on you like so:
- Mindgame
- My Sassy Girl
- Garden State
- The Usual Suspects
- Tekkonkinkreet
- Shawshank Redemption
- Stranger Than Fiction
- Once
- Juno
- The Royal Tenenbaums
- Fight Club
- Donnie Darko
