@Twilight-Lullaby
Wow! Didn't know there was novel from Death Note. Interesting really. Nod

@momentum
You both make me want to try reading some of Stephenie Meyer's work. Will try to find it in the library.

I'm now reading the detective serie "Kindaichi" (not the manga one which is actually the nephew of this Kindaichi, but the novel one): Akuma ga Kitarite Fue wo Fuku. The story flows in an unpredictive, mysterious way. Adore detective stories. Wink

You're reading classical works, momentum ! Tongue Kidding. I've never read Jules Verne but saw the movie 'Around the World in 80 Days'. Sometimes it's a pity how technology has developed to the point that life is too much easy. I mean in Verne's time travelling around the world in 80 days was a wonder. Now you can do that in 80 hours, less I would even say. (I'm just blah-blah-ing Laughing )

oh hey, is the movie you watched the jackie chan one? rofl. i didnt watch it, but i heard it was very very loosely based on the novel

Yeah, it's the Jackie Chan's one. I would say it's a bit foolish, but easy to watch on the other hands. I read the easy version for children when I was young so I see that the movie changed the original story much.

A-ha! Romance of the three kingdoms....I read it in Thai language, after the first 80 pages I gave up. Tongue Too hard, too difficult. But I still believe I'll finish this book, at least once. Maybe when I'm 60 years old, on pension and have nothing to do. Laughing

Have you ever read Pearl S. Buck? I like her feminine-style works with smth related to China. Read 2 of her books and will read more in the future. Nod

oh, i've read some Jules Verne too, but that was back when i was 13-14. i liked them.

right now i'm still reading Running with the Demon by Terry Brooks. it's the 15th of his books that i've read.

speaking of which... which are your favourite authors, or rather, which have you read most books by?
my list would look something like this:
1. Terry Brooks - 15 books (all the books in the Shannara series except the Genesis trilogy, and now i've begun reading The World and the Void trilogy too)
2. C. S. Lewis - 8 books (The Chronicles of Narnia and The Great Divorce)
3. Frank E. Peretti - 5 books (This Present Darkness, Piercing the Darkness, Prophet, The Oath (the longest book i've read, btw), The Visitation)
3. J. R. R. Tolkien - 5 books (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit, Farmer Giles from Ham)
5. Katherine Kerr - 4 books (first 4 books in the Deverry series)
5. Jules Verne - 4 books (The Lighthouse at the End of the World, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Robur the Conqueror)

i've probably forgotten someone, but those six almost make up half of all of the books i've read. i've soon read 100 books. Smile

lol, the latest book i've read was Yakuza Moon by Shoko Tendo, enjoyed that one alot. i like the twilight series by stephenie meyer as well, altough most of the stuff in the book seem to be really random and unneccesary, like stephenie meyer had nothing else to write lol. cant wait till bella and edward get married soon, then we can see how bella will turn out as a vampire lol

OH!! THEYRE GETTING MARRIED???!!! omg i soooo can't wait to read the second book!!!! Tongue

i think they talk about marriage only in the 3rd book. Belle wants to become a vampire coz its dangerous for her to be human, what with every bad vampire after her, but edward doesnt want her to be one coz edward thinks he's lost his soul after he became one, and doesnt want belle to lose her's as well, so edward wants belle to marry him before he agrees to let belle become a vampire. the 2nd book is mostly about how edward tries to turn her life back to normal by leaving her, only to make it worse.

Amongst the authors you've mentioned, i've read only C.S. Lewis and Tolkien. I know Vernes but didn't read.

Though only between Lewis and Tolkien it's already hard to decide. I like the great imagination in Chronicle of Narnia though it's a bit childish. LoTR is THAT GREAT but finishing this huge, long serie was really exhausting. No

^ Oh, I know exactly what you mean. LoTR took so much time to read, but it was definitely worth it. The Chronicles of Narnia was good too, but it did seem a little too childish to be really taken seriously.

lol, i didnt read those... i'll look for them when i have the time. i want to read slash's autobiography lol. im not a guns n roses fan though, but i think its going to be cool to read about the life of a rock star, his crazy life, drugs, prostitutes, and how he finally managed stability. i could finish yakuza moon, slash shouldnt be too much of a problem lol.

As for me I've just watch a trailer of the film 'The Kite Runners'. The story is about 2 Afgan boys who used to be close friends in their childhood. But then one went to live in America, the other remained in Afganistan. Both changed and the American one wants to find the other one. I don't know who 's the author but this book has just been translated into Thai so it'll be easy to find in the bookstore.

The most important thing:

~~~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY~~~momentum~~~!!!
Love Boogie Giggle Nod Smile Laughing
Just finished Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk; now that's an f'ed up book if I ever read one. F'ed up in the good way of course. It's just amazing read. He combines one large underlying storying, a dash of poetry, and more then a dozen amazing short stories that tie in heavily with the poems and main story. Some of the short stories are funny some are serious. They all make you contemplate one thing or another, and the vast majority of them just freak you out. One in particular, Guts, really makes your stomach ache. I think it has the record of making the most people faint during public readings. Seriously, check this guy out.
Now I'm reading A Briefer History of Time by Steven Hawking because I'm a nerd like that. Tongue
