Internet. A friend of mine who used to review J-Pop on the same site that I did mentioned Ai in one of his reviews (a J-Pop coverage sort of thing) and mentioned she sounded like a chipmunk on helium and that she had extremely hyper-happy songs. I had to have a look after that.

Of course, one of my first Ai songs was "Ramen 3-pun Cooking" so I was kind of confused and frightened a bit at first...

I learned about her from being on Youtube. I had been looking at Jpop Music, when I came across Top Ten Jpop Songs. She had been in it twice, and I really liked the songs she sang. They were Sakuranbo, and Planetarium. Wink

For me it was Youtube also. I was also looking for some new Jpop to listen to. Planetarium was the song that drew me in.

Internet. I may have heard some of her initial singles but they were always the fast songs that I didn't care for. Than I got obsessed with NANA and heard "Cherish" on a NANA compilation album. I adore that song and got her Love Cook album. I'll admit the first time I didn't think much of the album except for Cherish and 5: 09 but my interest in her was sparked again when info Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru started to go around the internet. I believe it was from Tokyo Nights forum that I heard that Ai was going to be doing the theme song for that movie called Renai Shashin. After I heard a clip of that song I was hooked again and stayed a fan and the rest is history.

My friend introduced her to me through a clip of her on that talk show, where they had a magician do tricks and she laughs and giggled like mad

i fell in love with her because of that =p

I was watching Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (J-drama) and saw the ending song, peach. I got interested in the song. I looked up in the Youtube for her other songs, Kingyo Hanabi which popped out at the time. I listened to it and I loved it. I decided to download one of her album, and I really love it since then I've become her fan. Now, I own legal copy all of her album, including most of her concert DVDs. recently i started hunting her singles. Smile

I was in Tower Records (music store) in Japan a couple years ago, and wanted to buy some JPop as a sort-of souvenir. I had no idea which artist to choose, so I basically selected the cutest female artist I could find. At the time, Love Cook had released, and well.. Ai looked pretty cute on the cover!

So I gave Love Cook a play test, and when I heard the first track 5:09am I actually wanted to buy it right there and then, so I did. Giggle Since then I went Ai-crazy, and bought all of her albums, singles and DVDs. Now I am in Japan, hoping to see Ai-chin in concert, but that's probably just a dream... Love

I learned about Ai from a Korean best of J-POP cd I bought at a local Korean store, it's where I also first heard hitomi, DAI and Ayu and as they say the rest is history. Laughing

Eh... not sure exactly. I think it was when someone mentioned Otsuka Ai in their website, so I decided to check her out. I first heard Planetarium and liked the song, but I couldn't get used to her voice. In fact, the song was hard to listen to because her voice was so different from anything I had heard before. Laughing A while later (maybe a year?), I decided to check out her music again and I became a fan after hearing PEACH! Nowadays I quite like her voice and have gotten used to it. Wink

huh. I've been here a while and don't think I've ever posted here. oh well Tongue

I found about Ai-chin when my cousin started talking about "a really pretty girl with a nice voice" named "ai otsuka" and I first thought "hmm probably just another airhead bimbo he thinks is hot." But he let me listen to her song "Planetarium" and I was like "wow she does have a nice voice after all." That wasn't enough to impress me though.

soon after that, I started hearing more about her--people talking, seeing her name on the internet, her CD's in stores--and so I went ahead and typed in her name in Limewire and found a song called "Kingyo Hanabi"...so I downloaded that. and I can remember being so mesmerized by the song...that I replayed it for an hour or more, just amazed by how beautiful it was. and yeah ... that happened back in her Best / PiECE era so I'm a relatively new fan to her Tongue

EDIT: I notice that after reading other peoples' posts that most of their first Ai songs were either Planetarium, Kingyo Hanabi, Sakuranbo or PEACH Laughing
