Quote: I came across this pic from one of the last tour performances:

The article states that over 32 dates, she played to a combined audience total of 100,000. In the final Osaka date, she played 21 songs over almost 3 hours. Rocket Sneaker was in the setlist. |

Sorry for the long delay. I was supposed to post this a week ago. Actually, last week, on the 5th I went to see Ai-chin's concert in Osaka. But I was too tired from flying too many places that I kept postponing the post. (I haven't posted anything here since I joined Cabin Attendant Training last year. Sorry about that but I was so busy and stressful. So please forgive me.) Most of the things that happened in concert were just like what "lurve_ya" said in his post on the 8th of Feb. And like "hiro" said, the band member introducing part was so crazy and funny when Akinori sang the song because the meaning was hilarious (I could understand some parts of them.)
The opening of the concert displayed on the screen showing how to use glasses. A cabin attendant in the VTR showed you how to stow your belonging and use the glasses when the "Glass sign" turns on. As a cabin attendant myself, it was funny and weird at the same time to see it. The glasses were used in many parts of the show not only Babashi part. The pic of Ai-chin that "HilaryDuffFanboy" posted was the opening of the show. In my opinion, the costume for this year concert quite disappointed me especially the one Ai-chin wore at the opening of the show. However, the lighting was really stunning. My fave part must be in Planetarium performance. The stage became dark while Ai-chin was sitting on the stair. The golden sparkling lights shone while she was singing as if she was in the dark sky surrounding by shining stars. Also, Kumuriuta was also impressive. The stage was dark mostly of the show (as I could remember) but at some part of the show the very bright white light dazzled from one side. It felt like you saw the first light from the tunnel.
Apart from this, I thought the first part of the show was a little boring. The ballad part was nice but I almost fell asleep since I arrived Osaka in the morning with 2-hour sleep and went straight to see my friend around Namba area and then, go to see concert. The final part was very entertaining since we got a chance to dance and sang with Ai-chin. Ai-chin made the audience danced a lot in CHU-LIP. She also sang "Roketto Sneaker" in her concert as well. I wished she would sang One*Time. The concert lasted about 3 hours with Ai-chin spoke in Kansai-ben about food difference in Kantou and Kansai along with the difference in Kantou and Kansai language. In Kantou you will call "McDonald" ---> Mak-ku, but in Kansai you will say "Mak-ku-do". I've just known that from the concert.
Last but not least I did take some photos from the outside concert hall. I hope you guys will enjoy it in some way.
I'm looking forward to see her concert in September if possible. |

Thanks bebe for the info about the concert. For someone like me it would be heaven to see Ai in concert <3 Sounds like the performance of planetarium is nice Looking forward to Kumuriuta as well! I've always enjoyed the ballad section of the concert. I absolutely love ai ballads. There's just something about them that are so perfect. On my ipod I've got a playlist called "Ai's Pocket" and I've got all her ballads in there <3 Just so mellow and calming I can't wait to buy this concert I hope they have a release date soon. |

LOVE PiECE Tour DVD Announced!
Ai's Official Site just added the info regarding the long-awaited Live DVD:
Release Date: July 30, 2008
Filmed on May 1st at the Pacifico National Convention Hall of Yokohama
(not originally listed as a performance date... ).
Per usual, there are two versions, but *not* in the usual way...
Standard Edition:
¥3,990
• Single Disc: Live Concert
Now here's the difference:
Special Edition = Limited First Press Edition!
[hence the high price:]
¥5,990
• Disc 1: Live Concert (as above)
• Disc 2: "Special Movie Disc" featuring 'MC Collection,' backstage video, etc.
• Photobook (40 pages)
and...
• a Digipak Case!!!
Based on the way it is written up, the Tour DVD extras will only be available in the limited first pressing--no Standard/Special Versions like previous DVDs.
While this is fantastic for First Press fanatics (myself included), I'm not sure how to read it in the greater sense.
As in, is avex concerned over Ai's DVD sales? Enough that they feel it's no longer worth it to have two versions out regularly...?
Or is it merely to pump up the initial sales for charting purposes...? This seems the most likely to me. In the long run, the chart/sales numbers are key for each artist in the eyes of the companies. Sad, but true.
No matter their motives, they've totally got me and I'm assuming many others hooked.
Can't wait for cover images and pre-orders!

Thanks for the announcement. They are probably trying to make back the money since this tour was probably more high budget, especially also since they filmed every MC section. It's more expensive than her past tours, even more expensive than Namie, Ayumi, and Koda Kumi's most recent DVDs, the limited edition anyway.
I'm definitely getting the limited edition, no doubt. I think I will get it on HMV Japan, they have cheap EMS shipping and have discounted prices for new items half the time.
Edit
The May 1st show must be the 3rd last date, and the 3rd Yokohama date, and the only one not on the tour itinerary on the official website, oddly.
Edit again
I checked CDJapan and HMV. CDJapan don't list it yet, HMV have the limited edition one for only 4.7 k, thats a saving of 1.3k yen. Limited Edn DVD @ HMV |

the bad news in this announcement is what wasnt said... no HD version. was Love Is Born ~4th Anniv~ a one-off?
also, i wonder how this Limited First Press Edition will work with the overseas/Hong Kong version. does anyone know of a similar release by Avex, and how it was done for overseas? |

Thanks zyzzyva for the info <3
Hmmmm I really want to order this I will probably cancel some orders I have in order to buy this. Wouldn't be the first time I've had to cancel, probably not the last either About the OS version hard to say how they will do it, There have been few times the OS version is exactly the same as the JPN version with the first press & everything only released a week or 2 later (I remember I ordered one of Namie Amuro's concert & there was no difference though Im not sure that concert had anything that was limited ) but when Koda Kumi's Second Session concert came out (I almost positive on this but if I'm wrong I apologize) the OS version didn't come out til like 6 months later but they did sell the limited edition. Had I waited I would of saved money ) Not sure if I was of any help on this matter Usually I buy OS depending on how broke I am or on the artist. |

Hum... I'll buy the limited edition as usual xp I'll need money ... I hope that CD Japan will get a good price / make a reduction on the DVD~
as for overseas editions, I don't really think it will be like the Japanese one... I mean, they did it for her CDs, but DVD ? I don't know ... |

¥5,990 !?!?!??!....¥5,990 ?!?!?!?
OH F***!!!!!!!!!!! which translates to $56.66 CAD.....excluding shipping......oh god...
but seriously...¥3,990 for just the performance...that's the same price as LOVE COOK (which I kinda wanted to buy...) Ai am Best tour was only 3800yen....this is insane....
should I wait for CDJapan to do their usual DVD price drop of like 20%? ...or get it.......so many decisions...oh well, might as well get it asap, I have until July (so far I have $35...darn, i shouldn't have spent it on that sushi buffet)
HMV Japan Price: ¥5932 (¥1200 yen shipping added to the ¥4,732)...
lets see how CDJapan price this...... |

Who knows, HD might be announced later. If I am not mistaken, HD for 4th Anniversary wasn't announced initally?
As for Overseas versions, the factor which decides they will have first press or not is whether it will still be the more economical choice over the Japanese version. If it costs too much to manufacture such that the final price will be similar to Japanese version, there is no point.
Usually, this is not the case, but it has happened before, for instance, the first press of the Ai am BEST! compilation was not available in OS vers, and thats understandble with its packaging and many extras.
I'm pretty sure OS ver will have limited edition for this release. OS versions have done photobooks and digipaks numerous times before and I don't see them stopping now.
Just another interesting point, avex representatives have stated, the only reason why OS versions of DVD's do not carry chinese subtitles, is because after doing the subtitles, the price would be around the same as Japanese versions. |

I hope there's OS version...the limited jpn version is a bit too expensive...
I think there would be OS version...cuz they had all firstpress version of ai's DVD before =)
as for the chinese subtitle, they put it on VCD (for the TWN ver they always have special firstpress dvd, regular dvd and vcd) and a translation paper for DVD) because avex TW didn't want to change or fix the original tape (?!) bcuz it'll ruin the quality of the image/video and there's also a copyright issue if they do that. |

Yeah it's the copyright issue, to buy the subtitling copyrights for the DVD would cost too much.
Edit
CDJapan now has the DVD on its listings.
I'm really anxious to see a tracklist. I REALLY hope she didn't take off a song that she hasn't done live before to make way for Rocket Sneaker. |
