windows users face the same restrictions. there are just more people providing hacks for it. region coding restrictions occur at 3 levels:- 1 in the DVD drive
- 1 in the Operating System (eg. Windows region management)
- 1 in the software player (eg. WinDVD, PowerDVD...)
you usually have 5 goes at changing your drive's region code. then it is locked on your last choice. this is in the drive itself. you may be able to burn a hacked firmware into your drive to get around this but it will void your warranty. as well, if the burn is interrupted midway, you might have to replace your drive! what i found is a utility that resets the counters in my drive. i worked out once it was manufactured by liteon. so now i can change the region to whatever the DVD requires, play the DVD, then reset the counters back to maximum. (basically, i found something that works for me, so i dont mess with it in any other way.)
fortunately for where i live, the government has taken the view that region restrictions are anti-competitive so circumventing them is not illegal. your point about price discrimination reminds me of all the cheap DVDs i bought recently in Thailand ("not for export"). price discrimination is everywhere. the person sitting next to you on the plane may have paid a different price for their seat, for all sorts of reasons. the worst example i think is drugs. drug companies are reluctant to sell life-saving drugs for cents in poor countries because they want to protect the markets where they can sell them for dollars. anyway, i am drifting off-topic here. and i was just warming up! |

News articles have confirmed she performed Rocket Sneaker on the last few dates, it will be on the DVD. |

^ thanks for the good news, HilaryDuffFanboy.
a google translation of the DVD description indicates that 3D glasses will be included to view 3D images, which i expect are the videos shown at the concert.
the description also mentions 10 million people twice. what can this be referring to? no way is it the number of people who saw her live. based on the number of performances, that would equate to 300,000 at each gig!
i assume the title of the tour: ~Megane Kakenakya Yume ga Nee!~ is a reference to the 3D glasses. |

^ Google translation got it wrong this time cos it's not 10,000,000...it should be 100,000 since 10万人 = 10 x 10,000 people. I suppose those figures are more realistic now?
As for ~Megane Kakenakya Yume ga Nee!~, I think that means "If you don't wear those glasses then you won't have dreams!" or "there are no dreams!" soooo yeah, I guess those glasses refer to the 3D ones as you mentioned. |

Wow! Great that no songs were axed from the DVD setlist!
Is there any information on how many 3D glasses will be included with the DVD? |
