Egg with Wings -
Romaji:

Translation:
I longed for the bright light
that day a crack appeared in the shell
With a lot of courage I looked out, and saw the tall skies for the first time
I got happy and extended my hand
at the same time, I was also scared
I don't know how to use these wings
I'm small, so small; even if i lose to the wind
i want to totally believe
high in the blue sky, maybe now can I fly?
if I fall down from here, it's ok for now
to have possessed a treasure, is a joy
and also swallowed by desire
"it wasn't supposed to be like this" i said many times
it was a innocent feeling
i want to tear down this small world to love you deeply
high in the blue sky, seeing many views
if I fall down from here, it would be ok for now
the street guide red with tears
the soul is transparent
and will one day agree
high in the blue sky, maybe now can I fly?
if I fall down from here, it would be ok for now
high in the blue sky, now, I can fly, can't I?
if I fall down from here, it's ok for now
--
Translation Notes:
"akeku naku michishirube" is a strange line. "red/scarlet crying street guide". Street guide being a map of streets. This line doesn't seem to make much sense or have a coherent translation even when looking at the other sentences before and after it.

wow thanks for the lyrics and translation!!
is this the second time ai's taking a perspective of another creature after neko ni fuusen?? correct me if i'm wrong hahah!
i really like the approach haha i think we learn to appreciate things a lot more when we see things from many different viewpoints!!
good stuff! i like it! |

...Thanks so much for the translation..! I really love how Ai thinks about the point of veiw of other creatures..... her lyrics kind of make me put myself in the animal's position.....
In this song..what animal is she talking about now..? Is it a baby bird..? Still great lyrics, though.... |

| Wow.... those lyrics are beautiful... truly reminescent of Neko ni Fuusen. Her creativity never fails to amaze. |

Hello just wanted to share my own english translation of Hani Ari Tamago...Hope u dun mind me sharing this thread... I love to translate lyrics espacially Ai Otsuka and I managed to get a better understanding of the street sign sentence Enjoy...
Hane Ari Tamago ~ Egg with wings~
Gazing upon that bright light
On that day, the eggshell had a crack
I boldly looked out, and saw the huge sky for the first time...
Happily, I reached out my hand
At the same time, I was afraid
This pair of wings I have, I do not know how to use them yet
I was small, so small, I was afraid to lose to the wind
But I chose to believe...
In the blue skies, looking at the strong wind
Although afraid that I would fall, but for now, it wouldn't matter anymore...
It is a happy thing to posses a treasure
Although sometimes we will be overcome for the need for it
And will constantly tell yourself that things aren’t like this
Keeping that stubborn feeling
I wish to break this small world, to deeply love you
In the blue skies, looking at the strong wind
Although afraid that I would fall, but for now, it wouldn't matter anymore...
Crying till my face turns as red as the street sign
My heart’s a mess
But one day I will understand it all
The huge blue sky, I only wonder if I can fly
Although afraid that I would fall, but for now, it wouldn't matter anymore...
The huge blue sky, I only wonder if I can fly
Although afraid that I would fall, but for now, it wouldn't matter anymore...

The song sounds great even without the meaning (and i listened to it like that for a year.. ) . But knowing the meaning it becomes 10 times better. Thanks a lot for the translation, Vllasko and Frost.
And Haneari Tamago in LOVE COOK Tour is awesome. Sugoooooi!!! XD
And this part is really hard to understand...:
朱く泣く道しるべ
akeku naku michishirube
the street guide red with tears
kokoro wa sukitootte
the soul is transparent
itsuka ookiku unazuku
and will one day agree
Anybody has some idea about this? |

^ mafee, to understand these 3 lines you might want to refer to Frost's contribution:
Frost wrote: Crying till my face turns as red as the street sign
My heart’s a mess
But one day I will understand it all
Frost's translation is easier to understand and less literal for those of us who can't figure out what Ai-chin's trying to express with her poetic words. |

Thanks eyn. I thought about it and get an idea that maybe she imagine herself flying in the sky with the new wings (as in the previous line)... and from the sky she might look to the earth and see the red, crying signpost, the transparent souls, which she at that moment cannot understand, but think that 'someday I will understand'... I don't know if that's right but sometimes music can be like art and each viewer/listener can imagine for himself what the meaning of that piece of art should be. |

| I was thinking the line goes sort of like "the map's ink ran red from my tears." But that's just my opinion. |
