^ Yea it is disappoint to see her ranked relatively low/have low sales. It was a good single too and a fair amount of promotions.
But people have been back on the whole "she lacks personality" discussion. I still think she should consider writing her own songs or work with a song writer to write a song that expresses something she wants. It's not like she needs to improve her vocals. She does well with ballads and her power ballads do sell well. Maybe she needs to find another style that will make her stand out as well. Something that will make her stand out from all the other J-pop artists.
I don't know if that will help her. I still think Sony should released Gate and Love Machine Gun to see what kind of sales that will garner.
The Miss You remix wasn't horrible though some people do find it draggy. It's growing on me though yea, I'm still disappointed it;s not the CM version. On the other hand I can see this on an RnB album. |

I like her new single
Koi wa groovyx2 is quite catchy and I do like it but these days, I tend to listen more and more to wintery ballads and calm songs...but I really like it nonetheless, it's only that I don'T listen to it very often
well...as you can maybe imagine by now, I LOVE Mafuyu no Seiza all the more! it's really a beautiful song and her vocals are as awesome as ever
plus, it's exactly the type of song I love to listen to right now
uhm...the remix...I don't really like remixes in general and this one isn't an exception...
it's such a shame that she can't seem to rank high and I don't really understand it... |

I love the new single it's sad to see her rank low. I mean it's not like she's popping out singles left and right. In fact I felt that this year was rather slow. I was waiting for awhile before anything was released and when I heard about miss you I got so excited. I thought miss you was a great song It was quite beautiful. and Koi no Groovy x2 is great too sooooo catchy but I love Mafuyu no Seiza more Definately the jewel of the single for me.
Perhaps the timing was off on the singles Perhaps she should of had the upbeat song for summer and the ballad for winter? I'm not sure ;( I only know the girl can definately sing so it's not a lack of talent that holding her back
I'd have to agree with you sakuraangel Maybe she should become more involved with the music making process. Maybe then she will find her own style |

I think it's pretty obvious that Yuna Ito is slowing down simply because she is not that popular anymore. I think a lot of people would call her a one-hit wonder if not for Precious.
WISH sold well below what their label wanted, and the effect of that, as can be seen, is less releases, and you can see with the latest single where she is heading.
I suppose it's sad but I never really believed in Yuna Ito. Sure she has a nice voice but nothing special, I always thought she'd do well as a backing vocallist. And I don't mean offence when I say that, I really think her voice is good for a backing vocallist. |

*I'd have to disagree with you. I can see where you're coming from but Yuna has such a powerful vocals that it would be a shame if she was a back-up singer. I don't know how often it happens in Asian but I know in North America some times back up singers becomes an individual artist if they have enough talent.
Yuna has the vocal abilities. For now I would like her to release GATE and Love Machine Gun and see how those fair on the charts.
Oh yea Yuna performing Koi wa Groovy x2 on Music Japan

Sorry the video quality is quite bad. Though I felt she did better in this performance than the Music Station one. |

i really like Koi wa groovy x2, the song is really good, i didn't fancy the PV all too much, though. miss you was so-so, i liked the remix better, and BREEEEEZIN!!!!!!! too. |

^ uh, Tommy Van? Tommy february6/heavenly6's name is Kawase Tomoko. Van Tomiko is the singer in DAI, they're not the same person at all....
anyways, back on topic. yes. i don't know how to feel about this either. funny and scary at the same time. i never saw Yuna as a comedian of any sort. i saw the vid on her site yesterday, and i didn't even think that it would be the PV... just some lame vid. and OMG, yes, the song sounds sooo much cheesier in english. way to go destroying a song i like, heh.
GATE >>>>> groovy x2 |

^My bad, I meant Tommy from BuriGuri aka The Brilliant Green. I use to like those two bands around the same time, actually I still like them. Too bad BuriGuri has essentially disbanded again but I heard Do As Infinity are back together O.o
I dunno why I wrote Van down. |

The Pv is hilarious I couldn't stop laughing
Aside from that it's kind of cute Regardless of the English, the songs the same so if you think it's cheesy in English well then that means it's cheesy in Japanese too I like it though It's one of those songs if I'm in a Groovy mood for then I'll be listening to it
Apart from this, I never commented on Yuna being better as a backing vocallist There's no way that coulda happened. I know they're two completely different artists and styles too but that's like Namie Amuro with the Super Monkeys. Wasn't going to happen. She stood out toooooo much. Namie's voice was a strong one and it was only a matter of time until she went solo. as with Yuna. She's got a powerful voice. Even if she started as a backing vocallist it's would just be a matter of time before she went solo |

Hmm, I don't know Spontania until now, so I haven't had a chance to listen to their previous songs.
But the reason why I mention them is because their next single will feature Yuna Ito (not Christin Ito XD).
the single is titled "Ima Demo Zutto"
According to Spontania official website:
Quote: Spontania feat. 伊藤由奈
「今でもずっと」
2009.01.28 (水) On Sale!!!
UMCF-5033
\1,000円(税込み)
Tracklist
1. 今でもずっと - (Ima Demo Zutto) PREVIEW
2. My Life
3. 今でもずっと (Instrumental)
4. My Life (Instrumental)
The preview sounds really nice ... until Spontania starts singing ... though it's worth checking out. I'll probably just keep an eye on this release.
