whee~ i love younha, and i didn't even know this thread existed!
hello again, kerushiiai, mangomalte, and everyone!

i've been listening to a lot of korean music recently
(i love clazziquai too)
her 'someday' album is amazing!
i've been watching her live performances of 'telepathy' and 'gossip boy', etc. for the past hour Giggle
i read on wiki.theppn.org that she composed and performed 'for catharina' herself
i've been figuring out how to play it by ear. the harmonies are absolutely beautiful.
if anyone finds the sheet music for 'for catharina' or any of the songs on the 'someday' album, please let me know.
if i can't find it, i might transcribe it when i have time.

^ hi there! ^^
yeah, i would like to find the sheet music for For Catharina too. i think i heard somewhere that she had composed it herself too, or i might've just been automatically thought that when i heard it. the first song she released that she had composed was homegirl, although she writes some lyrics for herself.
and Someday is just awesome. ^_^ i'm still having it on repeat every now and then.

^ she composed homegirl? wow. i will have to check that out.
kerushiiai, nice to see that pikachu is still shuffling along Nod

as a composer, i listen carefully to the construction of songs, and i've found that many of her upbeat songs share very similar chord progressions and harmonies, but younha sings them with such energy, emotion, and dynamicism that it still never gets old Smile
still, i always like hearing something freshly different, and the album is wonderfully varied

i've been switching my siggy every other hour Laughing
there are just too many photos of younha for making siggys

Quick bit of news about Younha. I just found out about this but she's sorta of released a new single though it's not her single per say.

She's featured on Kim Dong Wan (he's probably known more for being a member of the boy band Shinhwa) new song Promise which is also the title of his new single. Promise was released on November 4, 2008. This is kind of Kim Dong Wan's farewell single to his fans before he has to begin his obligatory military service (as some of you may know certain countries require their citizens to do a year or two of military service, Korea happens to be one of those place, but I think it only applies to the guys ... I think).

The song Promise is about a couples feelings prior to bidding each other farewell.

You can see the PV here:

And she also sang "Something Stupid" with Kim Dong Wan. I'm not sure if it's a concert he was holding or if it was a TV show ... but you can see it here:

Hmm, it seems Younha has a new official Japan site. Word on the street is that she isn't with Sony Japan anymore and is with a record company named Sistus.

Seems like there will be some Japan releases in the future as well. I heard that she's doing the end theme for an anime titled Ride Back (I know squat about this anime at this point and time). This song will be the Japanese version of "Memory" from her recent "Someday" album.

She's also doing a theme for a movie that's slated to be released in theaters next spring.

I'll be a tad more detailed when I get more info.

^ ooooh, interesting. thanks for the link. ^_^ maybe i'll start translating that blog on a steady basis, hehe. Giggle
another anime tie-in, huh? too bad it's just a cover of Gieok (although that song is awesome).
seems like so far there's only a download version announced so far, too. here's a small version of the cover.

also, that movie isn't just any movie, it's Kondou no Nichiyoubi, the movie Younha is starring in. and just to not confuse, it's coming out this spring, 2009. i interpret "next" as 2010... and the name of the song is Niji no Mukougawa (on the other side of the rainbow).

gotta say i love the pics on the site. ^_^

thanks for the pics, mangomalte! i especially like the second one.

i'm excited for the new songs! Boogie

younha seems to be a very popular artist among koreans at my university. everytime i sit down at the grand piano in my friend's dorm, she requests that i play 'comet' or 'password 486' and then when i start playing, all the koreans in the room turn their heads Laughing

Hmm, so RIDEBACK the anime has aired some time last week.

Here's the end credits featuring Younha's "Memory" (Japanese version). It's only a part of the song. Though it doesn't sound as bad as i thought it would be. I still like the Korean version better.

If anyone is interested in the anime, you can read a review about it here. Madhouse is behind the animation, and they've yet to really disappoint me in terms of art. So yea ... I'd at the very least check it out for the art.

So Sistus is a branch of Geneon Entertainment. Hmm, Geneon is involved with a lot of animes, so I wonder if this means more anime tie-ins in the future?? But I also heard that Geneon is merging with Universal Pictures Japan (though I have yet to hear/read about this officially) so maybe big movie tie-ins for Younha??

Prepare for Younha video spam

Hmm, methinks Younha should put out an English album XD

I've Never Been To Me (Feb. 4, 2009)

Wow this is vocally really beautiful. It gives me chills. Does anyone know who originally sang this? ... too lazy to look it up.

Since You've Been Gone

I've always like Kelly's version, but I think Younha does great here.

Can't Fight The Moonlight
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dL39jnrCM20
O.o ... wow. I think if she sings this now, she'd be even better. I looks like she hasn't practiced it much since she was looking the lyrics. But had she practiced, she probably hit every note flawlessly. Even so, she was GOOD.

Because of You and He Wasn't
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukbroh_YAw4

Let's Get Retarded (I know it's not the title of the video but they are singing the original song XD)

- There's a mix of Korean in this but damn Wheesung and Younha are SICK.

- Younha doesn't sing in this but she does play the piano, and I'm posting this 'coz I think it's a pretty song

Blowing in the Wind
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucQMNymeWeI

Tic-Tac-Toe

- LOL tis a fun song XD It's a treat to see Younha rap in Korean for a bit.

Gwanghwamun Love Song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FzDKJHMgvo

I don't know if Subway Line 4 will come out with an album or anything. I'd be cool if they put out a DVD for their performances. I'd totally buy it XD When I google them, I've only come across these youtube videos so I'm not sure if they will do anything else.

News wise, well she toured with Epik High for a while, and recently she's be involved in Subway Line 4. However her new movie is just around the corner so she'll probably be headed over to Japan soon to promote it.
