Giggle It's simply a different league. That's classical or rather, opera. ai does POP or maybe even soft-rock,
But back to the topic, ai's voice is in her own league. There's a touch of happiness in it and nobody does it like her Love

hmm i don't have any issues comparing her voice with others across genres. pretty fair since we're just comparing the voice quality.

...but to compare to those listed... Shocked

Ai's voice is truly unique and is therefore in a league of its own. I think it is difficult to compare who has the better voice as the voices are completrely different

After listening to LOVE LETTER over and over again, mixed, shuffled with other albums, or just plain LOVE LETTER, i got to say she seemed to have a new found confidence with her voice.

Her voice as in w/o being "cute". Like her very first single, Momo No Hanibira. that voice. and she's really confident to go high, what with the high notes she hits in quite a number of her tracks in LOVE LETTER. best shown in "Ai", where the music stops just for us to savour her voice.

now, isn't that confidence? Smile

edit:

after reading sljinu translation for an interview, i believe that she sings this album much more naturally 'cause these are all songs close to her heart...

Ai's voice ain't common ... At lease in my opinion .
To me , sometimes she sang ... Sort of a little bit , cute , sharp (Sharp ; Not those that can make your eardrums burst) , a little bit out of voice (Like her throat is ... Too dry ?) & Lastly , 'flat' .
Idk how to define my way of 'flat' ...
But all those that i mention above was good afterall , that makes her voice unique , she have a soft voice sometimes too , well again , at lease in my opinion . xD
I like her vocal alot , it's like she can sing every kinds/types of songs ...
Unlike mine and comparing her to other singers , some singers only could sing certain kind of genre . Boogie

Well, I agree that she has changed her voice lately...
At least for her lives, it's got more...nasaly...?
It matches some songs, but I think he voice was so beautiful and cute and young-sounding before... Sad
It's not bad, but I liked her voice a lot more before she started changing it.
It isn't as noticeable on her CDs, but it is very noticeable in her lives.
I was watching an old preformance of Neko ni Fuusen(When the single first came out), and then a new preformance of it, and in the old one, she hardly made any mistakes. Her voice was cute, beautiful and nice to listen to. But in the new one, she was (I think purposefully?) singing from the back of her throat (?), making it more nasaly, and she seemed to have a hard time hitting the notes properly. She also seemed more uncomfortable.
Like I said, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as it used to be.

But I think that she is great at singing ballads, whoever said that she isn't obviously can't hear correctly! Mad
Just listen to Daisuki da yo!

i really like her voice since its a change of pace in comparison to other people who have that traditional voice (what i mean like singers these days who dont actually have the same way of singing but that mindset of what a good voice is) which i think is okay too. but what i like about ai's singing is that its different and cute sounding lol

I actally don't care if others don't like Ai's voice, because for myself, I think her voice is really easy to listen, always enjoyable, even in lives performances. When I listen to Ai I'm not only judging by her voice, i'm also judging her by her personality, her lyrics and compositions on piano etc. And If I love Ai that much it is because all her songs relate to me really well! Love And even if she dosen't have the greatest voice in the world she's still #1 in my heart Nod

exactly my thoughts too.. i always think that what made her a great singer for me is the way she sings her songs "in context". always in the "mood" of the whole song.

but since the thread is just on her voice, well, i don't mind being more... critical.. =p

I've been listening to Ai's albums every night for months now... it's almost all that I do listen to these days...

And for all of that listening, the ONLY song I've heard that I'm not really crazy about is シヤチハタ from the Love Letter album... because it sounds so UNLIKE Ai!!!!

Her songs work beautifully for her. The arrengements are creative and beautifully produced, and I can't imagine having a night go by when I don't listen at least a little to the voice I've grown to love so much.

Squeaky? I don't know... I've been playing Ishikawa Osaka Yukou Joyaku a lot lately for its' pure joy and cuteness. Maybe people mean that Ai-Chan just isn't their style... which is fine. I sure wouldn't be listening to her music so much if I didn't love what she does with her voice... Vocals are the first thing that I listen for in a song.
